THE APOSTLE PAUL LESSON 13

THE JERUSALEM COUNCIL PART 2

The men who came from Judea to Antioch insisted that all the gentile converts to The Way must be circumcised like a Jew. This caused a huge conflagration since it went contrary to what Paul and Barnabas were teaching about salvation by faith alone. These other men said one cannot even be saved without circumcision. (I wonder how women would then be saved?) It was such a fight that the Antioch church decided to send a delegation to Jerusalem and put the matter to the apostles and elders there.

They sent Paul, Barnabas, and a contingent of other leaders to Jerusalem to see Peter, James, and the other church leaders. Paul declared to them about the many conversions to Christ throughout Syria and Galatia. He testified of the many churches planted with Jewish believers worshipping together with the gentile believers who had converted from paganism. He told how they also received the Holy Ghost (Acts 15:8) the same as they had received on Pentecost. It was by faith and confession on Jesus Christ. They were saved and circumcision had nothing to do with it.

However, some of the Jerusalem believers who were still in the sect of Pharisees argued that these gentiles still had to be circumcised and had to obey the entire Mosaic Law in order to be saved. They could not see God working “outside the box” in which they had been indoctrinated.

After much debate, they finally kept enough silence to allow both the respected Barnabas and the upstart Paul to make a final appeal. The decision of the leadership council was then given by the chief elder of the church, James (Jesus’ brother). We shall discuss that decision tomorrow and how it has impacted us today.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT

One of the hardest places for most of us as Christians is when we pray, and we don’t hear any answer from God. We seek His face and read His word, but we don’t get direction. It is in this place that our faith either grows or we abandon it.

There was no open vision in the days of Samuel. When he was born, Eli, the High Priest, had sin in his family and in the place of worship and sacrifice. He couldn’t hear from God because there was no open vision. (I Samuel 3:1.) It had gotten so bad, that God raised up Samuel to be a prophet to bring judgment to the ungodly family of Eli and to the nation of Israel. Sin can definitely keep us from hearing from God.

Between the Old and New Testaments, there was a period of time of almost 400 years where there was no prophet, or word from God that was raised up. Those were silent years until John the Baptist came on the scene with the message of “repentance.” People were hungry to hear from God, and when John came on the scene the common people received him while the religious leaders didn’t.

When God is silent, we must examine our hearts to see if there is anything blocking communication with Him. If there is, then we must repent to remove that blockage. That was John’s message to get the people ready to receive the true Prophet that would come, Jesus Christ.

Another reason that God is silent is that He has told us to do something, and we have put if off. It may be a sin that God is dealing with us to stop doing, or an assignment that we haven’t done.  We will not be given a new word from God if we haven’t done what he told us to do already. Many a time this will happen because people fear the unknown and choose not to move forward because they are comfortable where they are at. Think of a word from God as a seed. It has to be planted and grow in our hearts. Like a seed that is planted, if it didn’t break through the dirt, it would never grow. In our lives there is often pain with the “breaking through” stage, but it has to happen to grow. If God isn’t speaking to you, examine your heart and repent if you haven’t done what He asked.

Another reason that things are silent is Satan is blocking the answer from coming as he did with Daniel. Daniel prayed and it took 21 days for the answer to come because there was a battle in the heavenlies between God’s angels and Satan’s demons. Daniel was a righteous man without sin in his life, so the delay wasn’t caused by sin.

Regardless of what is causing the silence, know this one thing.  God hasn’t forsaken you.  Don’t stop believing God will show you the way. Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth if you ask for help. Silence doesn’t last forever. It is a season that can change when we are ready to change with it.

Prophetic Exhortation

Some are riding the fence with their faith. Make a choice to go all the way with Jesus today. He will take you through and go with you! Don't be the one to say I wish I had instead of I am glad that I did!

APOSTLE PAT MURRAY

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Has God been stirring your nest lately? Do you feel like you’ve been stretched as far as you can stretch? Do you feel like the old rubber band that’s about to break from all the pressure and the stretching? Have you moved out of your comfort zone? Are you walking in some real desert places? Well that’s all good...For without the problems of the desert experience, Elijah would not have been ready for Mt. Carmel and the prophets of Baal. Neither would David have been ready to fight Goliath nor been prepared for his divine appointment to the throne. Just as sure as God had to prove and prune His children back in Bible days...He still must do with you and I today. So take joy my friend for you’re in great company. God does have a plan for your life; But He never moves you from one level to another without first proving you. Unfortunately, that means stretching you and yes, it means allowing those tests you’re now experiencing. So stand tall, keep the faith and know in your heart; That God is only preparing you for the blessings that are awaiting you

AMANDA SHIFLETT

PROPHET EXHORTATION

7-12-2021

History has shown a pattern of death and destruction that has befallen the Jewish people during the three-week period known as "Between the Narrow Straits" or "The Time of Distress", the period between Tammuz 17 and Av 9. This year, this time falls between Sunday, June 27th until Sunday, July 18th.

On the 17th of Tammuz, the walls of both the First and Second Temples were breached and both Temples were destroyed three weeks later on the 9th of Av. The Hebrew word for strait is "tzar", which literally means “narrow,” but also means “anguish” or “distress.” They commemorate this time with mourning and fasting. They also use it to look forward in hopes that the temple will be rebuilt again one day. Of course, we know it will, and Messiah will sit on His throne there.

Many in the body of Christ sense a lot spiritually and in the natural during this 3 week period as well, even if they don't always know why, as we have been grafted into Israel, and what affects them can affect us also. Be aware that you may be going through a tight place spiritually, feel intense things in the spirit, and in the natural...you may feel pressure and some distress, as you pass this narrow place, known as "between the straits". This will not be for everyone, but many of God's prophetic people have and will feel this during this time.

It is a time of pressing through to enter into the promises that the Lord has for you in the upcoming months, and even what He has for you in the New Year, or Rosh Hashanah, which will fall in September this year. This is not a time to get into doubt or fear, but to remain in faith, in much prayer, and trusting in the Lord to see us through to the other side. This is also a time to repent for any doubt or unbelief that we have allowed ourselves to get into during this past season of warfare.

The month of Av on the Hebrew calendar, which began at sundown this past Friday, is usually known as the month you metamorphose or disintegrate, one of the two. This is the month the Lion roars. (Amos 3:8) This is the month where God allows destruction, so He can rebuild.

Hold tight to Him, let His Spirit guide you through, and trust that He that does not slumber or sleep, will uphold you with the right hand of His righteousness. Focus your gaze on Him more intently as you navigate your vessel during this time, and you will see Him bring you through the floodwaters, safely on the other side!

Here's a post I shared before that discusses more about this time...

Here is a look at historically what this time is, and why the Jews still mourn for these 3 weeks...
