Interim # 3 Literacy and Math Tests

Our entire student body will be taking literacy and math tests next Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. We are asking that our students do their best on the test. One way that you can help is to talk about the importance of the test. Please make sure that you let your child know that they must take their time and answer all fo the questions. They must alsouse the entire time to take the test.

Todos nuestros estudiantes tomarán exámenes de alfabetización y matemáticas el próximo martes y miércoles de 8:00 a.m. a 10:00 a.m. Les pedimos a nuestros estudiantes que den lo mejor de sí en el examen. Una forma en que puede ayudar es hablar sobre la importancia de la prueba. Asegúrese de hacerle saber a su hijo que debe tomarse su tiempo y responder todas las preguntas. También deben usar todo el tiempo para tomar el examen.

Progress Report for January

Please look out for your child's January Progress Report. This report is very important because it helps you understand where your child stands with their academics, attendance, and behavior. Please call the school if you do not understand the progress report.

If you are a parent of an 8th grader at KBMS, please make sure that you sign your child up for your school of choice school in the Fall, 2020. Please contact our school if you need assistance.

Enriching Lives Fundraiser

Save the Date! Our spring fundraiser, Enriching Lives, has been scheduled for the evening of Thursday, April 23rd at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver. We would greatly appreciate your help in collecting donations for the silent auction. For a donation request letter to use with your network or neighborhood business partners, click here!  Funds raised at this event will be put toward our enrichment programming!

If you are in need of food, please call the school and ask for Ms. Elodia. She will be able to help you with emergency food. We work with an organiztion call Food for Thought. It is this organization's goal to give our families food.

English as a Second Language

We offer FREE English classes every Tuesday night from 5:00pm - 6:30 pm. Our instructor, Ms. Victoria Bailey has many years of experience teaching English to non-English speakers. Please come to our classes and bring a friend.

Blue Lantern Award

Our Blue Lantern Award this week goes to Nina Modern. Nina, Nina, Nina----you are one of the best, if not the best, social workers that we have had the privilege of working with at Kepner Beacon. There are SO many times that I see you working with our students. You work with students that need extra support and you give your support so well. And, just like the picture, you take a big breath, you smile and work through our student concerns and issues. You are so effective with our students--you do your job so well, and our staff highly respects your work, your decisions, and contributions to our community. Nina you make a huge positive difference at our school and we are honored to have you working with all of us. 

Premio Linterna Azul

Nuestro Premio Blue Lantern esta semana va para Nina Modern. Nina, Nina, Nina: eres una de las mejores trabajadoras sociales, si no la mejor, con la que hemos tenido el privilegio de trabajar en Kepner Beacon. Hay tantas veces que te veo trabajando con nuestros estudiantes. Trabaja con estudiantes que necesitan apoyo adicional y brinda su apoyo muy bien. Y, al igual que en la imagen, respira hondo, sonríe y analiza nuestras inquietudes y problemas estudiantiles. Eres muy eficaz con nuestros estudiantes: haces muy bien tu trabajo y nuestro personal respeta mucho tu trabajo, tus decisiones y contribuciones a nuestra comunidad.
