Ten Missouri projects included in
national transportation benefits campaign
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is beginning a new public outreach campaign entitled
The Benefits of Transportation: The Solutions State DOTs Bring to People & Their Communities.
Ten award-winning Missouri projects are included in the AASHTO campaign, including The Focus on Bridges Program and Infrastructure Improvements for Downtown St. Louis.
Designed to increase public awareness about the multitude of benefits transportation investment provides, this new national campaign uses an interactive map to link website visitors to transportation projects across the country that are reducing travel times, improving safety, protecting the environment and boosting the economy.

Spring is coming; potholes are blooming
MoDOT crews are turning their attention to the state’s pesky potholes. Slow down, move over a lane and give them room to work. In 2019, MoDOT patched approximately 730,000 potholes, spending $17 million on the repairs.

Senate banking hearing
Last month, MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna testified at the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs hearing. The hearing focused on surface transportation funding issues and the fiscal needs of transit systems across the U.S.

Seat belt check!
This year’s teen-focused campaign theme - “Seat Belt Check!” - reminds us to hold each other accountable and make a seat belt check before the car starts. Wearing a seat belt is your best defense in a traffic crash. Everyone in the vehicle needs to buckle up.

New chair, vice-chair for Highway Commission
John W. Briscoe, New London, is the new chair of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, and Michael T. Waters, Orrick, is the new vice chair. The commission elected them at its monthly meeting last week in Jefferson City.
