We regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 State Conference and in-person Annual Meeting due to the increasing threat posed by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Like you the AMTA NM Chapter Board and AMTA National have been monitoring the situation with COVID-19. The AMTA NM Chapter Board has been closely monitoring the situation since NM Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a state of emergency regarding public health on Wednesday March 11, 2020. The NM DOH mandate at that time was no large gatherings (over 100) through the end of April. While our event is not often this large we began to look at alternatives such as postponement and to discuss our options with all those involved. However, on Sunday March 15, 2020 the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) issued a new directive eliminating all gatherings larger than 50 for the next 8 weeks. After reading these new guidelines and with the guidance and recommendation of AMTA National we came to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 State Conference and in-person Annual Meeting originally scheduled for April 2-4, 2020.

We know the AMTA NM Chapter State Conference and Annual Meeting is an opportunity for our members to gather together and take advantage of top quality continuing education, while networking with their colleagues from across the state. However, the health and wellness of our members is the highest priority for both AMTA and YOUR NM Chapter. That includes supporting safe learning environments. In our industry it would be impossible to practice social distancing and gain the type of knowledge and practical experience that benefits us. While we have cancelled the in-person portion of our conference we are planning to hold a virtual Annual Meeting. We will be reaching out to you via email, Facebook, and our website to let you know when that has been scheduled.

Our hope is to have a robust Fall Education Conference to fill the void left by cancelling this event. If you are in need of CEUs please remember that there is a vast library of high quality webinars on the AMTA Website. In addition the 2020 AMTA National Convention is being held in our neck of the woods August 27-29, 2020 in Phoenix, AZ.

If you have already registered for the conference we will begin processing the cancellations this week. Please be mindful that this will take time.

We will continue to keep you updated about all future education opportunities, the virtual Annual Meeting, and the Fall Education Conference via email, Facebook, and our website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Sincerely,

BreAnne Garcia McClellan
