We want to update you on contingencies that are being planned at Coastal Resources in the event that anyone at the plant is diagnosed with COVID-19. As we know, there is now confirmation that the virus is in Maine, and according to the Maine CDC, more cases are expected.

 

Coastal Resources and the MRC have been closely monitoring all guidance from the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, and the Maine CDC in creating a plan that maintains the safety of the employees and all who interact with the plant.

 

Due to the community transmission of the disease, which is highly likely if non-infected people are in contact with those who are infected-and therefore contagious- and if we have a confirmed diagnosis at the plant, it may have to shut down and we will be in bypass until further notice.

 

The length of time in bypass will depend on many factors including the number of cases that may be diagnosed and how radically the staff may be affected.

 

Understanding that coronavirus is now affecting all aspects of our lives and likely will continue to do so for at least the next several weeks, we may also encounter supply chain issues. We currently are investigating ways in which that may-or may not-be mitigated, depending on what and where the disruptions may occur.

 

Please know that we are taking this pandemic seriously and that while the safety of the employees is the first priority, we also are doing all that we can to ensure the continuity of MSW disposal.
