CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020

Palmetto Bay's Car Caravan for Seniors
a Honkin' Success
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.”
―  Maya Angelou

On Thursday, May 28th, Palmetto Bay threw a parade in honor of every single high school senior who lives in the Village from various schools. The procession included Mayor Cunningham, Councilmembers, retiring Miami-Dade School Board member Dr. Larry Feldman as well as five Palmetto Bay policing units, an MDFR truck and an ambulance. Sirens wailing and arms waving, they wrapped their way through the Village, passing by the homes of 150+ graduates. The seniors came out of their homes and onto their lawns to enjoy the procession. Some dressed in their caps and gowns, many were flanked by their proud parents and it was truly an emotional experience for everyone. It's not clear who enjoyed this the most; the students or the rolling revelers! This was our way of telling the grads, we love you and are proud of you. A special thank you to New York Roma Pizza, a new restaurant in Palmetto Bay that gave each grad and their family a free pizza. Our community rocks!
Congratulations!

All Eyes on Kid's Virtual Town Hall
Our Fifth Annual Kids Town Hall, "Do Something Good with Your Trash" held on Wednesday of this week was a big success. Hosted by Mayor Cunningham, four members of our Youth Community Involvement Board appeared on Facebook live, showing younger viewers how to reduce, reuse and recycle. Take a look at their presentation on Facebook, here . Co-chairs Tatum Rivera and Jake DeWitt were joined by members Eric Bernarde and Nicole Gazo and invited younger viewers to create ecologically smart projects like theirs. Nicole even included a live demonstration on composting that was easy for kids to try at home. If your child makes a composting bin, have them snap a photo and send it to us by the end of the day tomorrow, May 31st, at events@palmettobay.com , and receive a complimentary cheese pizza!
