This quarterly seminar will feature industry professionals and local marketing specialists and is geared to keep businesses up to date on what they need to know and what works. What:  The Convention & Visitors Bureau is implementing a tour guide certification program. The program consists of a 2-hour classroom session and a 2 - 3 hour driving session (practice giving a tour while driving the route). After the completion of the program, you will receive a letter of certification. All certified guides will be placed on the CVB contact list for tour requests. Any time a CVB guide provides a tour to a group, they will receive compensation. This training is something you will only have to do once.

With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, DPI presents the Open 4 Business competition for a for-profit business locating in downtown Burlington. Three chosen local applicants will pitch their business concepts to DPI, with the winner competing to be a semifinalist in June for a chance at $8,000.
