March 14, 2020
The Tipp City Public Library will physically close at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 until a date to be determined by the Tipp City Public Library Board of Trustees.

During an emergency meeting held this morning, the Tipp City Public Library Board and the Library Director made the decision to close the library to the public at the end of today Saturday, March 14, 2020. At this time, we are uncertain how long this closure will need to remain in effect.

Due to the rapidly changing situation, we will evaluate this closure on an ongoing, daily basis and we will re-open as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. The decision to close our public library was a difficult one, which was the result of much discussion and deliberation.

Patrons can return items via the walk up book return at the front door or use the drive-up drop boxes in the alley behind the library. The Library is fine free, so you will not be penalized for returning library materials that may be late during this time. During meetings with staff on Monday, March 16th, we will work towards continuing to uncover how best to serve the community while our doors are closed. The library is planning to continue some services, which are yet to be determined, such as patron hold pick-ups.

At the present time, our services will include:
1.      Phone lines will be answered, beginning Monday, March 16, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
2.      Increasing checkouts on Hoopla
3.      Digital story time via social media
4.   Home bound deliveries will be made in conjunction with orders from each individual nursing home.
We will continue to keep you informed of the library’s plans. We know many of you think of the library as your happy place and we hope you understand this drastic protective measure we have taken. We will continue to seek opportunities to serve this community without temporary physical access. If you have any questions, we invite you to please call the library at (937) 667-3826.
