Governor addresses goals for her administration on statewide tour

For all of the goals for her fledgling administration, Gov. Kristi Noem said her primary focus remains on future generations of South Dakotans. “I’ve been on the job for seven or eight weeks, and it’s been incredibly humbling to be your governor,” Noem said at a lunchtime gathering of the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

Institute

Institute for Organization Management (Institute) is the premier continuing education experience for chamber professionals. Since 1921, the Institute program has educated and empowered chamber executives with the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in their organizations and industry.

The Institute curriculum is comprised of four week-long sessions. Each session is five days and is offered at five locations across the country annually. With courses on topics such as advocacy, media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Institute ultimately educates participants on all facets of running an association. The Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce is looking to support entrepreneurs that served in the U.S. military through a new accelerator program being operated at Ward 4, Milwaukee's startup hub just south of downtown.
Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce settles into new home

The Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce has a bird's eye view of the State Capitol in its new location on the Square. The Chamber moved into offices on the third floor of the U.S. Bank building, at 1 S. Pinckney St., in mid-December.

The Ames Chamber of Commerce has joined business leaders from across the state to request lawmakers sign “common sense” immigration reform at the federal level in an effort to reinvigorate Iowa’s economy. Recognized as the “Iowa Compact on Immigration,” the compact supports bipartisan immigration policy that “ensures our federal system meets the needs of our employers and labor market.”

This isn’t a new phenomenon, as the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce has been aware of the hiring issue for many years now.

The Chamber Works to Erase Mental Health Stigmas in the Workplace

Employers in the community are learning to create a more inclusive work environment for people facing mental and behavioral health issues with The Chamber’s monthly Eggs & Issues event. “The idea is to give people that work in this every day, people that have gone through some of their own issues themselves, to help our audience understand that it is a serious problem in the workplace,” Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce president & CEO Craig Whitney said.
