Thanks from the Episcopal Center for Children
- Our March snacks have been delivered by Irene Fletcher, Patricia Dorn, and Janice Ezeani. Many thanks to all of you who supported this part of Good Shepherd's special connection with the ECC.
Heifer 2019 Has Begun!
- It began last Sunday with an amazing Heifer Creativity Fair that raised $1103.00 to jump start our campaign. Many thanks to all our Good Shepherd creators. Jewelry, baby booties, crowns, handmade books, knitted hats, magnets, candles, a beehive cake, a honeycomb cake, the annual paw paw bread basket, chocolate cake, and other beautiful and delicious items graced several tables in the narthex. A few items remain and will be offered for sale this Sunday. If you weren't there, have you guessed this year's theme? If you said "BEES," you are CORRECT. Trust Deena to get bee-related items into the coffee hour goodies. Yum! Heifer boxes and the 2019 Heifer Challenge will continue to be available so be sure to pick yours up. If you missed it, Deena has the most amazing beehive hat you have ever seen!! The Heifer ingathering will be, as usual, on Palm Sunday, April 14.
Upcoming Events
MARCH 31 AT NOON - SOCIAL JUSTICE LUNCHEON ON THE THEME OF HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY -
Learn from a panel of speakers while you enjoy a luncheon of soup, bread, drinks, and dessert. The offering for this event is $20 per family, with contributions to be divided between Shepherd's Table and the Montgomery County Commission for the Homeless. We are hoping for a full house from Good Shepherd for this special opportunity to expand our understanding of the people we support through our outreach, such as the bag lunch program and the Globe. Debbie Beebe, Shaun Hardy, Deacon Kathryn, and Lynn Wood are the contact persons.
ONGOING
Transfiguration Parish Trip -
to Our Little Roses San Pedro Sula, Honduras July 8-15 looking for adult and teenage volunteers. Trip costs approx. $1200 (which includes air fare). See flyer on Ushers' desk in Narthex.
Saint Luke Food Pantry -
On March 31, we will learn more about the impact of Hunger and Homelessness in our "wealthy" Montgomery County. Each nutritious staple that we place in the cabinet at the back of the sanctuary helps alleviate the hunger insecurity of a family or an individual whom we may never see. As followers of Jesus, we support this ministry of doing our part to help feed those who are hungry. We bring in, John MacArthur delivers. The staples are organized and distributed by Saint Luke volunteers almost as soon as they arrive. The need is ongoing. Thank you.
