BRATECC Hosted The Knowledge Exchange Visit and Meetings of The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation,
Marcos Pontes, with Prestigious Universities of Texas

On September 4th, 2020, the Minister of Science and Technology of Brazil, Marcos Pontes, came to Houston for virtual and in-person meetings organized by the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce (BRATECC) with professors from Rice University, University of Houston, University of Texas, representatives of the SpaceCom and the Brazilian Space Agency. The meetings had the support of the president of the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce, Ulisses Sperandio, BRATECC's Executive Director, Cid Silveira, BRATECC's Events Committee Chair, Helder Waiandt, and the Commercial Advisor of the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston, Alex Freire.

On the first day visiting Houston, Minister Pontes visited Rice University for a Lab Tour, followed by a virtual meeting at BRATECC with Professor Kakadiaris, from the University of Houston.
On the second day, Minister Pontes had a work brunch at Fogo de Chão, organized by BRATECC, with Professor Rizski and Professor Vilalta, from the University of Houston, to talk about projects that involve the possibility of student exchanges between both countries.

On September 7th, 2020, Minister Pontes had a meeting at BRATECC offices with Professor Shams, from the University of Texas, and a virtual meeting with representatives of SpaceCom, James Causey, Executive Director, and Steve Wolfe, Deputy Executive Director, and the representatives of the Brazilian Space Agency, Carlos Moura, President, and Paulo Vasconcellos, Director of Space Transport and Licensing.

Deliver the 2019 Best of The Year Award to
Décio Oddone in Rio de Janeiro
On October 8th, 2020, Carla Lacerda, president of  ExxonMobil in Brazil and BRATECC's member of the Board of Directors, had the opportunity to personally deliver the 2019 Person of the Year Award to Decio Oddone, CEO at Enauta, in Brazil.
 
On June 24th, 2020, the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce celebrated the second edition of its Best of the Year 2019 Awards Ceremony. In this year's edition, which was celebrated online due to government restrictions related to COVID-19, Decio Oddone, former Director of Agência Nacional de Petróleo (ANP), was awarded the Person of the Year of 2019 in recognition to his invaluable contributions to the energy sector in Brazil during his mandate at ANP.
