Celebrate accomplishments of Tucson Unified Career and Technical Education students & teachers in this edition of   Career Connect. 
CHOLLA HEALTH CAREERS  
PHARMACY STUDENTS EXCEL
Pharmacy Tech Teacher, Dr. Janelle Hunter reported Cholla Alum, Stephanie Amado (C/O 2012) was accepted to the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy. Amado will pursue her Doctor of Pharmacy at eh Phoenix location of the UA College of Pharmacy via Telemedicine.
In addition, Annael Abril passed her national exam joining several Cholla Alums who are now successfully working in the field of Pharmacy and Allied Health.

CHOLLA HEALTH CAREERS FAIR 
Cholla Career Counselor Lupita Cabral collaborated with CTE Teachers Dr. Hunter and Ms Adams to facilitate the 2nd Annual Cholla Health Career Fair March 12, 2019. Corporate sponsorship was generously donated by Walmart. Numerous Tucson business, industry and post-secondary representatives offered hands-on demonstrations and information about health-related careers. COMPETITIONS
Cholla Welding team and CTE Teacher, Jorge Padilla proudly display the Goodkin trophy.
Cholla Welding Wins SkillsUSA Regionals

CTE Teacher Jorge Romero said: "I am extremely proud of the effort and hard work, that my fabrication team put into this year's Skills USA Welding/Fabrication competition." As a team, they placed first.

Perla Rodriguez (4th place winner)

SARSEF Science & Engineering Fair

Pueblo and Tucson High CTE students excelled at the 2019 Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation event.
Pueblo Biotech students David Noriega and Stephan Twaje earned 2nd place in Microbiology 
Tucson High Magnet School students earned 4 awards: 1st place: Nicholas Bushroe, Samuel Love and Jacob Metcalfe. 2nd place: Elizabeth Mendivil and Pilar Muller; 2nd Place: Nadira Mitchell and  3rd place: Ryan Puffer.  According to THMS CTE Teacher, Jeremy Jonas, the  1 st  place group also won over $3K in award money.

Pueblo Juniors David Noriega and Stephan Twaje
Junior Achievement: 
"JA, You're Hired!"

Students from Pueblo High and Tucson High Marketing, Early Childhood, Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America, Advanced students from Entrepreneurship and Business Operations classes competed at a recent Junior Achievement Challenge: "JA You're Hired."
March 8, at  Pima College. Results are: 

PUEBLO RESULTS
Of ten finalists, 5 Pueblo Warriors placed tops (equivalent to 1st) in the Interviewing Challenge event--A fast-paced, elimination style interviewing tournament where students faced experienced corporate interviewers competing for summer internships:   Chanelle Juarez (Marketing),  Odalis Tapia (Marketing),  Washakie Miller (Marketing),    Joey Lepez (Marketing),  Fhernanda Monroy (Marketing)
 
Pueblo topped San Miguel HS & Tucson HS teams, placing 1st  in Cyber Security event. Student teams raced against the clock to analyze facts in a given scenario and solve a cyber security breach. Students were evaluated on their team work, fact-finding and problem solving skills:   Clara Rodriguez (Marketing),  Sonia Torres (Marketing),  Celeste Noriega (Early Childhood Education)
Two students tied for 3rd place city-wide in Toastmasters 60 Seconds to Success Challenge-a Toastmaster's lead interactive group challenge where students practiced their communication skills by developing and refining their elevator speech, competing for top honors:  Justin Morando (Healthcare Professions),    Laura Lopez (Marketing)

1st Place - Dress for Success - Male - Zion Givens
Top 3 - Dress for Success- Lauren Saenz
1st Place - Leadership Challenge - Erika Polanco, Azmiyn Vidal, Tuituli Lizardi Ruiz
Top 10 - Interview Challenge - Lauren Saenz - Eligible to compete for internships
2nd Place, STEM Challenge, generating sound, light, and motion - Romeo Martinez, Marissa Lara, Diana Reyes, Daphne Dorame Pesqueria
1st Place - Marketing -create a product and sell it to a panel of judges - Dante Soto, Fabian Mada, Zion Givens, Marissa Lara, Gene Rivera
2nd Place - Marketing -create a product and sell it to a panel of judges - , Azmiyn Vidal, Tuituli Lizardi Ruiz, Esther Zazueta Calvo and Alvaro Vasquez Moreno
2nd Place - Cyber Security Team Challenge - Trinity Quihuis, Diana Reyes, Romeo Martinez and Brandon Quihuis
