As a first-generation college student, you know how to persist through uncharted territory and overcome unforeseen challenges. The qualities that led you to UC San Diego are the same qualities that will help you succeed during this time of unprecedented change. returntolearnUC SAN DIEGO - RETURN TO LEARN
The Return to Learn Program is a voluntary student program that screens for active SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes COVID-19 disease. If you choose to participate, you will be helping potentially reduce the risks of COVID-19 outbreaks and making our UC San Diego community a healthier place.

In this initial phase, in May 2020, SARS-CoV-2 testing was be made available to resident undergraduate and graduate students currently residing on campus. Participation is voluntary, but all eligible students are encouraged to participate, and there will be no cost to the students who choose to participate.

The Return to Learn Program is for asymptomatic student volunteers only.  If you are having COVID-19 symptoms (shortness of breath, cough, fever, chills, loss of smell or taste), please call Student Health Services at 858-534-3300.

At this time UC San Diego is not able to accommodate students who do not reside in on-campus housing, nor families of students who may also live on campus. They hope to expand testing in the future so that we can accommodate many more groups.

tritontidbitsTRITON TOOLS & TIDBIT PODCAST
The sudden shift to a remote learning environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic has forced UC San Diego students to adapt to new ways of learning and connecting away from the traditional campus setting.

Triton Tools & Tidbits is a podcast that is focused on discussing topics that will engage and enrich student life and education. Brought to you by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
  • How can we as a campus community support each other, and our students, to succeed in this unique environment?
  • What tools do students need to succeed in an era of physical distancing?
  • How can students maintain connectivity to their networks in a remote environment, sustaining a sense of community while in a non-traditional campus environment?

Every Thursday, Triton Tools and Tidbits seeks to answer these questions while highlighting resources available to students across Student Affairs units and the UC San Diego campus community.

sunriseSUNRISE FOR SENIORS PROJECT
The Sunshine for Seniors Project seeks to combat loneliness and isolation that many of our senior citizens are facing during this pandemic. Unfortunately, isolation is associated with higher risks of a variety of physical and mental
conditions including a weakened immune system, anxiety, depression, and Alzheimer's Disease. Although we cannot physically visit the elderly, we can step into this loneliness by writing encouraging letters to this community, and that is where the Sunshine for Seniors Project comes in! By enabling and encouraging volunteers to write physical letters, we hope to send 1000 letters to St. Paul's Senior Services so that they can be distributed to the residents.

How to become involved:
Please visit this website for more information and the google signup form:  UCSD Sunshine for Seniors Project

There are two ways to become involved:
1. Write a creative letter and send it to St. Paul's Senior Services by June 15th. If you do not have the necessary supplies, please tell us on the Google signup form and we will send materials to you for free.
2. Write a virtual document and send it to  [email protected]. Please still fill out the google sign up so that we know how many letters are being sent.
3. Take a picture and share it on Instagram, tagging three friends as a social media challenge! More info on this in the link above.
