Dear Friends,

We would like to update you regarding changes to our programming in the coming weeks. Although there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the Temple Aliyah community, we are proceeding in an abundance of caution, and to do our part to help contain local community spread Programming scheduled between now and the end of March is either canceled, postponed, or will be moved online.

  • An updated list will be emailed early next week with details about program/service cancellations, or instructions for joining programs and classes online.
  • We are asking our community to refrain from attending Shabbat services. Instead, for the time being, please participate via livestream by visiting templealiyah.org/livestream.
  • Rabbi Vogel’s Rabbinic Assembly installation has been postponed.
  • Minyan will continue at Temple Aliyah and Shomrei Torah Synagogue this week. We will update you as soon as possible regarding next week’s schedule.
  • SCJLL religious school will be closed next week so that our teaching staff can be trained in online educational modalities. Classes will be held online until Passover. We hope that we will be back on campus after Passover.
  • Our ECE will close on Monday, March 16th and remain closed for the week. We will continue to re-evaluate this closure on a weekly basis and will return to campus as soon as it is safe and advisable to do so. Our ECE teachers will receive training so that they can connect with our students online during this closure.
  • Youth events are canceled; however we are exploring ways to host virtual youth programming.
  • Stay tuned for more information about all the ways we are planning on praying, learning, and connecting with you virtually over the coming weeks!

Be on the lookout for a text from Temple Aliyah tomorrow as we have implemented an emergency texting system. If you do NOT receive a text before Shabbat, please let us know. You may opt out of these texts, but we strongly suggest that you do not.

We would like to thank you for your patience as we deal with this unprecedented situation. If you have any questions, or if you or anyone you have direct contact with is diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact Executive Director, Maureen Sweeney (maureen@templealiyah.org).

B'Shalom,
Rabbi Stewart Vogel
