Reminder to residents of the Animal Control By-law and the requirement of residents to keep their animals leashed.  It is for the safety of all that they be leashed and it is the law. 

III. Animal Control 
3.  (1) For the purpose of this section, a dog shall be deemed to be running at large when found in any place other than the premises of the owner of the dog and not under the control of any person as set out in subsection (2). 

(2) Every person having control of a dog in a place other than: (a) his premises or property; (b) the premises or property of the owner of the dog; or (c) the premises or property of any other person who provides authority for the person and dog to be present upon said premises or property without a lead being attached to the dog; shall secure the dog to a lead not exceeding 3 metres in length and shall keep hold of such lead. 

(3) No owner of a dog or cat shall, knowingly or not knowingly, allow the dog or cat to run at large within the limits of the Township. 

(4) Any person shall be entitled to take charge of any dog or cat found running at large but shall forthwith deliver the dog or cat to a Canine Control Officer.

Take notice that on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, the Council of the Township of Brock will hold a public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied throughout the Township. It is proposed that enactment of a development charges by-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.

Development charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2019 Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of all eligible DC Services (i.e., General Government, Library, Parks and Recreation, Fire Services, Public Works and Roads and Related).

Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2019 Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges by-law.

All interested parties are invited to attend the public meeting:

Location:    Council Chambers, Municipal Office,1 Cameron St. E., Cannington, Ontario

Any person may attend the public meeting and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the by-law. Written submissions are invited and should be directed to Thomas G. Gettinby, CAO & Municipal Clerk ( brock@townshipofbrock.ca) no later than 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.  Written comments received prior to the meeting and submissions made at the public meeting will be considered by Council prior to the enactment of a new development charges by-law.

Weight Restrictions in Effect

Seasonal Weight Restrictions of five tonnes per axle weight restrictions are in effect. 

Restrictions will continue to approximately April 30, 2019, with the actual end date to be confirmed closer to that time, following a review of weather and road conditions.
