Irish folk group Goitse
(pronounced Go-wit-cha) will perform as part of the Center Stage Series on Thursday, March 14, 7:30 p.m. in the CFL Main Hall.
The group’s distinctive sound lies in the quality of their own compositions interspersed with traditional tunes from the countryside of Ireland and abroad.
This is a green card event and tickets are FREE for students with CAF — general admission tickets available for all Luther students.

Closing events for the BSU 50th Anniversary
will be held April 26-28. The weekend celebration kicks off with a reception at Norby House at 5:30 p.m. Friday, and closes with a Gala Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. More information on these and additional activities can be found

"Stories in Community," tales shared by families, friends, world travelers and neighbors are only a few of the stories told in the more than 60 films to be screened at the 10th annual Oneota Film Festival. Co-sponsored by Luther College, it's set for Thursday through Saturday, March 7-9. Festival-goers are asked to

Platform
, a student organization devoted to promoting young women and other under-heard voices within policy and politics, is hosting Jen, the founder of Platform's National organization for an Advocacy Workshop on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in Olin 102.
You don't have to be an expert in politics to change policy or an expert in lobbying to change minds. During the workshop, we will learn how to craft a narrative around the realities we live and tell our stories in a way that will make legislators listen.
Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Entrepreneurship
— Discover how Sam Burman LC '11 Rewant Lokesh LC '11 built an international business based in Calcutta, India, focused on the core principles of sustainability and making a positive contribution to the world. 'Here's My Story: I Failed'
March 13 -- Failing isn't on anyone's to-do list, but what if more emphasis was placed on failure as a productive learning tool? New York Times Best Selling Author Brené Brown reminds us that if we are brave enough, often enough, we will fail, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Storm Bailey,
professor of philosophy at Luther College has been appointed as The Center for Ethics and Public Engagement faculty research fellow. The appointment is for two years beginning in the fall of 2019.
Luther College
junior Kristen Hansen and sophomore Piper Wood have been selected as Peace Scholars for the 2018-19 academic year. The pair will spend six weeks studying peace and dialogue in Lillehammer and Oslo, Norway.
Jim Martin-Schramm,
Luther College professor of religion, has been announced as the new director of the Center for Sustainable Communities. He serves a three-year term as director beginning spring semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.
Zeta Tau Psi Soccer Tournament
for Charity -- Saturday, March 16 Zeta Tau Psi will be hosting an indoor 5 on 5 soccer tournament. The games will start at 1 pm and run until 5 pm in the Regent's Center main gym. To join, contact

. Teams of 5-8 people will donate $20 ($4 a person) to join the tournament. All donations go towards the NGO Water To Thrive and support Decorah Middle School’s well building initiative.

Iowa College Foundation-McElroy Student/Faculty Research Projects for 2019-20. Students must be juniors or seniors in Fall 2019.
Applications
require dual authorship by the student(s) and a sponsoring faculty member. Funds may be used to support all expenses of research project except faculty stipends. Maximum award: $2,000. Luther may submit up to four proposals. Internal deadline: April 10, to Dean's Office, Union 262.

The 2019 Oscars Talent Show!
BTQ will be tabling to sell tickets from 5-7pm Monday through Friday outside Marty's. This year’s proceeds will go to the Agateka - Kw'ishure (Dignity at School) Program in Burundi. Lost:
On Wednesday, March 6 I lost a women’s black angora knitted hat behind Main Building. It has a small amount of white and gray fur as a decoration on it, as well. Accreditation Information

As part of the site visit by the Higher Learning Commission
on March 11-12, three open forums will be held. The forums provide faculty, staff and students opportunities to interact with the team from the Higher Learning Commission and to provide additional input regarding Luther’s satisfaction of the criteria for accreditation. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend the forums; no reservations are required to attend. All three forums will be held in Peace Dining Room.
- Forum 1: Monday, March 11, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Focus Areas: Mission, Diversity, Student and Faculty Involvement in Community and Society, Ethics, and Fair Policies and Procedures (Criteria 1 and 2).
- Forum 2: Monday, March 11, 3:45-4:45 p.m. Focus Areas: Quality of Academic Programs, Faculty Qualifications, Program Review, Course Availability, Advising, Assessment of Student Learning, and Retention (Criteria 3 and 4).
- Forum 3: Tuesday, March 12, 8:30-9:30 a.m. Focus Areas: Finances, Strategic Planning, Future Plans, and Institutional Effectiveness (Criterion 5).
