Fighting crime -
by the numbers
The CrimeStoppers Board of Directors Awards Committee met early this month to go over 26 felony cases eligible for awards.
The cases represented 29 people arrested in a variety of crimes, including attempted murder, vehicular homicide, child rape and several cases of aggravated robberies and aggravated assaults.
In one case, a tipster identified a perpetrator after seeing him on surveillance footage run on air in the news media. Among the arrested individuals were 17 male and two female fugitives who had been hiding from authorities. Award amounts r
anged from $150 to $800. The arrests cleared 29 open cases in Memphis Police
Department records.
The oldest citizen tip was from October 9, 2015.
