News of the Parish
St. John's Lenten Study Series Starts Next Week
The journey through Lent into Easter is a journey with Jesus. We are baptized into his life, self-giving, and death; then we rise in hope to life transformed. We invite you to walk with Jesus on his Way of Love into the experience of transformed life, through the depths of salvation history into the fullness of redemption. Our Lenten worship and study series for this year will be held on four Thursdays: March 21 and 28 and April 4 and 11. Stations of the Cross will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the church, followed at 6:00pm by an adult forum, Life Transformed: The Way of Love in Lent in the Parish Hall. All materials will be provided. Call the parish offices at 259.1570 by this coming Monday, March 19, to register. Contact Deacon Kathleen at kmoore@stjohnstampa.org for more information.

The Quiet Day originally planned for March 23 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled in the fall.
Gala Organ Concert This Sunday, March 17
The next event in our Annual Music Series will be a gala concert this Sunday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m. featuring organist David Briggs - international concert organist and Artist-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City. This will be David's second visit to St. John's, and, as last time, he will be joined by our own choir in a performance of the 'Messe Solennelle' of Jean Langlais, with whom David studied in Paris. David and I worked together at Truro Cathedral in the nineties, before he went to be Organist of Gloucester Cathedral and subsequently concentrate on his solo performing and composing career. He is, without doubt, one of the foremost organists of his generation, and we are very fortunate to have him make a return appearance at St. John's. As always at our concerts, a reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

Love INC Visit
Holy Hospitality has been born again at St. John's! Many parishioners will remember participating in former St. John's associate rector Randy Hehr's "Practicing Holy Hospitality" program several years ago. Now, we are building on that foundation and revitalizing our efforts to make St. John's a more welcoming and connected community, starting with Coffee Hour between the 9:15 and 11:15 am services and extending to occasional receptions and other special events. Parishioner Sara Stone has taken the helm, and already more than 20 individuals have joined the team.   A big thank you to Sara and everyone else who has enthusiastically stepped up thus far, bringing delicious treats and helping set up in our beautiful courtyard during the first two Sundays in March.

In addition to providing an opportunity for fellowship and connection, our Holy Hospitality Coffee Hours will give us a time to showcase ministry opportunities at St. John's. This past Sunday, Love Inc. was the featured Outreach Ministry. Lindsey Hale, a Love INC representative, and Thad Bereday, a St. John's parishioner and Love INC. volunteer, were on hand to provide information and answer questions about the many volunteer opportunities Love, INC. offers.

If you want to join the Holy Hospitality team, email Sara Stone at sarabstone@yahoo.com or Heddy Brown, vestry liaison to Holy Hospitality, at heddymb@gmail.com, or contact either of them on Realm.

Also, on Tuesday, April 9, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., Love INC will hold its annual fundraising breakfast and open house at The Portico Church, 1001 North Florida Avenue in downtown Tampa. There will be a continental breakfast and a special guest host.  All are invited.  There is no charge to attend.

We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.
