Dear Parents and School Community,
There are currently no known cases of COVID-19 in Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
While the health risk from COVID-19 (coronavirus) to the general public remains low, PVPHS is continuing to monitor the situation and take guidance directly from the District. Below is an outline of the current plan as it pertains to PVPHS specifically based on the District release sent yesterday evening.
We will continue to notify the PVPHS community with regular updates.
Health and Wellness
  • Administration will be in daily communication with District personnel.
  • Regular reminders to students and staff of recommended hygiene orders including washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid close contact with people who are sick, and to stay at home if you become ill.
  • Custodial staff has increased frequency in cleaning of high touch surfaces.
  • Approved use of hand sanitizer and distribution to staff.
  • Staff intervention in any cases of bullying around the virus.
  • District providing teacher training on how to use higher potency cleaners in the classroom.

Academics
PVPHS would like to begin to prepare staff and students in the event of absences, be they individuals, large groups, or school wide. Currently, teachers are working on ways to deliver instruction to students remotely. At this time, there are no plans to close the school.

Precautionary measures being taken
  • No non-essential visitors will be allowed on campus
  • No out of state field trips until further notice.
  • All in state field trip restrictions will be updated as information is made available.
  • No large congregations of people including assemblies.
    • o   If you have questions about an event, please contact the event coordinator directly.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

Brent Kuykendall
Principal
