This Weekend at St. Paul's
St. Patrick's Day - Hooray! There will be plenty of parking, but you might want to arrive a little early to get a better spot before the parade goers appear. And you will have an excellent location from which to walk together to the parade route after church. It will also assure you a better seat at the Baptism Class at 9:30. See below for more information.
Rector's Notes:
As some of you know, Guytie has been quite ill.  Flu, bacterial pneumonia, sepsis, erratic blood pressure . . . it has been an interesting week.  She appears to be on the mend now.  Your prayers are appreciated.

This Sunday is the Second Sunday in Lent.  It is also St. Patrick's Day with the annual KC parade starting at 11 a.m., going from Broadway to 43rd St.  If a security person asks about your parking as you enter on Sunday, please tell them you are attending St. Paul's for the Sunday service.  You should have no problems parking in the parking lot.
Please join other young(ish) adults at St. Paul's on Sunday, April 14 for brunch after the 10:30 a.m. service.  Details can be found at StPYoungish Brunch .   Please contact Whitney Hosty with any questions or if you would like to help to organize future events.
Middle School Diocesan Retreat (5th -8th grades):  Click here for more information.

Hosting Coffee Hour is a fun and easy way to get to know other St. Paul's members! The host brings the food and the church provides the drinks. An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn. If you have questions or wish to co-host with another member, please contact  Alison.  Dates are available.

 2019 Stewardship

Information about your 2019
Mission and Ministry Pledge:
Every year, in response to the many and great gifts God freely bestows upon us, we are all invited to make a pledge to the financial support of St. Paul's Parish.
Our gifts become a witness in the world of this parish's response to God's call to us to be a faithful community serving all God's creation.
The ministries of St. Paul's depend upon the financial support of its members and other interested persons.  In order for the Vestry to make good decisions on how to manage our resources, we invite you to make a financial commitment to our parish for 2019.  You can use the link below to make your pledge or contact the  Church Office for a paper pledge form.
Thank you for your support financially, for your participation, and by remembering our efforts in your prayers.

verse of the week

And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'

- Matthew 25:40

voice of the week

I want to be outside with the misfits, with the rebels, the dreamers, second-chance givers, the radical grace lavishers, the ones with arms wide open, the courageously vulnerable, and among even-or maybe especially-the ones rejected by the Table as not worthy enough or right enough.

- Sara Bessey

prayer of the week

Oh God, bless us with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that we may live deep within our hearts. Bless us with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that we may work for justice, freedom and peace. Bless us with enough foolishness to believe that we can make a difference in this world, so that we can do what others claim cannot be done. Amen

thought for the week
Johann Ernst von Holst
No one can be a Christian without the cross. The closer we would be to the Lord, the deeper we have to go with him, outwardly or inwardly, into his humiliation and into his suffering. That is essential. So let the Lord's question pierce deeply into your conscience, my soul: Can you, will you drink his cup? Will you endure his baptism? Blessed are all who, through life and death, can humbly answer, "Yes."
