Riviera Beach Housing Authority
Ever Wanted to Attend One of Our Meetings--Without Leaving Home?

Thanks to the pandemic, you can! The May 12, 2020, regular Board Meeting was held viral. The date was also our Annual Meeting, where change occurs. This time: a new Board member was named and we considered changes to our Bylaws. Our next regular Board Meeting is scheduled for June 9.

Will it be viral? Stay tuned for updates.

After a Decade, Commissioner Thomas is Leaving.
Delvin M. Thomas was appointed to the Board in 2010 by former Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas A. Masters, acting as Vice Chairman from 2011 until 2016 when, in May of that year, he was elected Chairman by his colleagues, a position he held until May 18, 2020. For nearly two decades, he has worked in real estate, finance and land development and brought that expertise to the RBHA. Mr. Thomas is also a licensed Realtor and has a degree in International Business from Northwood University. His colleagues, and the executive team, thank him for his years of stellar, steady leadership. "I'll continue to use my skills, knowledge and expertise to help ensure continued success at the housing authority," Mr. Thomas said, "and I remain willing to assist in any way I can." The Steady Work of Our Madame Vice-Chairwoman
She is also Chairwoman of the Authority's Community Relations Committee, through which she oversees housing applications, all waiting lists and resident relations. And, throughout April and early May, she also picked up 125 hot meals from Howley's Restaurant in West Palm Beach every day, by herself, primarily for our senior residents. "I don't know, it's just important to me to make sure our residents, especially our seniors, get what they need," said Ms. Thurmond, who is self-employed. "Caring for the community, that's what it's about." The meals resulted from a partnership with Living Hungry, a West Palm Beach-based nonprofit. The daily deliveries have stopped thanks to the official reopening of Palm Beach County two weeks ago--but not her focus. She's working with Heron Estates managers now to create an onsite food pantry. Among other things. We thank her.
For Heron Estates Senior Residents:
News, Events and Useful Information from the City of Riviera Beach
Both the city and the federal government want to hear from you! The city has a first-ever Community Values Survey that it's asking all residents to respond to. What do you like about the City? What would you like to see changed? The City Manager, Jonathan E. Evans, who attended our groundbreaking in January, says the City can't make change without knowing what its residents want. That includes the new residents of Heron Estates Senior. And the U.S. 2020 Census is seeking to count every human being living in the country, including, again, you!
