I hope you are doing well during these unprecedented times. I would like to check in on on how you are doing and hope that we can schedule a 30-minute block of time to meet virtually or in-person. During this conversation I would like to take the opportunity to better understand what you need as a business during this challenging time and how DBI can assist and offer support.
Please respond to director@downtownblacksburg.com with time(s) that are convenient for you to meet and I will accommodate your schedule. Please indicate whether you would like to meet in-person or virtually. Thanks and look forward to talking with you soon!

Blacksburg Bucks Program: "Blacksburg Bucks" is a program designed to encourage and provide incentive to support Blacksburg businesses during these challenging times. Using CARES Act funding, the Town of Blacksburg will double the value of all Blacksburg Bucks purchased. If a customer purchases $100 in Blacksburg Bucks, the value of the certificate would actually be $200 to spend. Gift certificates can be purchased and redeemed at any of the six Blacksburg National Bank locations. The program is open to all Blacksburg businesses.
If you're interested in participating, simply fill out the attached form or the Google Document and return by Monday, November 9th. Please share this with any other Blacksburg business that may be interested.

Nature Disrupted, Nature Compartmentalized
Bob Rotche
Please join us Friday, November 6 for a lunchtime break and our last Ask the Artist for 2020.
Also, make sure to stop by Perspective Gallery Tuesday - Friday 12 - 8 p.m.; Saturday 12 - 5 p.m.; Sunday 1 - 5 p.m. to see the beautiful and thought-provoking sculptures Bob has on display. Squires Student Center is open and both the Center and Gallery have safe COVID protocol in place. Please wear your mask when entering the building. Thank you! Virginia based sculptor, Bob Rotche, has been working primarily in wood since he started experimenting with art in 2012. With his early work being lathe based, he has since branched out and is embracing a variety of techniques with a focus on curve and form, positive and negative space, color and texture. He is fascinated with man's relationship with the natural world and how that can be examined sculpturally, often juxtaposing geometric and organic forms and surfaces.

The masked singers gathered in the parking lot and sang with a cell phone in the center. The chorus member listened on her own phone, inside the building, windows closed. "She is out of the rehab and at home now, making a great recovery," said chorus director Lavelva Stevens, adding that the chorus hopes the parking lot singing helped make her spirits feel good.
