Goffstown Public Library's
MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
Director's Message

As I’ve shared previously, I have been working on a phased approach to reopening the Library. All decisions take into consideration the health and safety of the Library staff and are subject to change suddenly. While we will return to full service in the months to come, the Library building will not be open to the public until July, at the earliest, and not at full capacity. That decision will be made in June sometime and in dialog with the town’s Emergency Management Director.

As of Monday, June 1 , GPL staff will be back in the building Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will be answering the phone to assist you, responding to email and chat, and preparing for our next phases of service. Holds on materials can be placed on items in our own collection. No state library or GMILCS holds and delivery will be active at this time.

Beginning on Monday, June 8 , we will start to receive returns in our book drop, so please be aware of your due dates to know what the timing is. Please do not return materials prior to your June due dates. All returned materials will be quarantined for a period of time and will not be checked in until after quarantine; no fines will accrue during this time. If you cannot access your library account for the return dates, please call us beginning June 1 at 497-2102 for assistance.

Our goal is to start contactless parking lot pick-up of library materials on Monday, June 15 . The hours available and procedure will be shared prior to that date and returns will only be accepted in our book drop so we can maintain our quarantine procedure.

Please email me at dianneh@goffstownlibrary.com if I can answer your questions.

What you can do now:
  • Log into your library account from home so you know when materials are due for return; get started at www.goffstownlibrary.com/account. If you need help, please email us at goflib@goffstownlibrary.com and one of our awesome librarians will help.
  • Pay attention to email and text communications from us; please add library@gmilcs.org to your email address book.
  • Plan to return materials on the exact day they are due if possible; we do not have the capacity to accept hundreds of items at once and quarantine them safely for our staff prior to reshelving. If you have multiple due dates, please give us a call after June 1 in case we can consolidate them for you, or pick one of those dates and bring all your items back then.

Even when closed, our staff is busy:

Up-to-date information will be posted at www.goffstownlibrary.com , and through social media. Information has been changing quickly during the time of COVID-19 so please understand when we can’t follow our pre-made planning.

Be well.

Dianne Hathaway
Library Director

New Hampshire State Parks
Park Pass Availability

You can now reserve library passes for NH State Parks. The Park system currently has only a selection of parks open, each at a limited capacity.

Online reservations must be made no later than up to one day in advance. Passes will be emailed by 8:30am Monday - Friday; you will receive your pass on the date of your reservation. Pass requests for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday must be received by Thursday at 5pm and will be emailed on Friday morning. Visitors are responsible for printing their pass for entry into the Park. Contact your specific destination for details; it is suggested visitors reserve their space ahead of their arrival, a library pass does not guarantee entrance into the park.

NH State Parks is following all guidelines set forth by the Governor to ensure visitor and staff safety. They have seen a large influx of visitors to the parks, which has resulted in some areas being closed and others being opened earlier than expected. At the parks that are now open, staff is present to collect fees, and relay COVID-19 messaging while helping to maintain a lower capacity and ensure guests have an enjoyable visit while following all recommended social distancing and other CDC recommendations.

For details about your Park visit, please contact your destination directly.
