LENT- a time to SPRING ahead... but WAIT!

A Note From Pastor Linda

Jesus' second WORD from the cross:
"Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)

Dear People of the Cross, Followers of Jesus,

We have fully entered the Season of Lent. The word Lent, from the old English "lencten" means "Spring." I find it interesting this year that the first Sunday in Lent coincided with Daylight Savings time; that time when we "spring ahead". This, alongside the very long signs of winter, including a winter storm warning that covered our area on this First Sunday in Lent. It is no wonder that I feel all mixed up and a bit out of sorts! I am tired and weary of this Winter season and am yearning for Spring and warm sunshine that leads to new buds on the trees, not ice dams on the roof.

Enter the Season of Lent; a time to pause, a time to ready us for Easter, resurrection, an empty tomb, and NEW LIFE! At Hosanna we are doing this together, as we stop at the cross and take a deep breath, spending all 6 weeks of Lent considering Jesus' time spent hanging from the cross. Every Wednesday we are introduced to a new word as a person from the past is brought to life... and on Sundays we look deeper and are offered a cross to take with us out into the world.

Yes, the world is ready for SPRING, but at Hosanna we are stopping... maybe pausing is a better word. Lent, let's do this together.

See you in CHURCH- on Wednesday and Sunday!

 ~Pastor Linda
