Students and Parents Attend Roadmap to Success Event
GGUSD's Roadmap to Success was recently held at Rancho Alamitos High School. The event provided students and their parents with valuable information about the road to college. They learned about the A-G requirements, financial-aid and scholarship opportunities, and about strategies that can be used while filling out college applications. Breakout sessions also featured experts who spoke to students and parents. There were also a number of vocational schools, community colleges, and agencies who shared information about their programs.  #ChooseGGUSD   #GGUSDpride
Peters 4-6 Fifth Graders Participate In Interactive Lesson Led By Boeing Engineers
Fifth graders at Peters 4-6 Elementary School lit up the MPR during a lesson taught to them by Boeing Engineers Luz Virgen and Martha Garcia. Luz was also a student of Jaime Escalante who is the subject of the movie "Stand and Deliver".

This is the second year Boeing has partnered with Peters 4-6 to give an engaging hands-on lesson in engineering. This year, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the lunar landing they collaborated in groups to build fuel level detector sensors, which lightt up if done correctly, that are used on rocket ships. They then tested their fuel detector sensors by dipping them in water to see if they had been constructed accurately. Students who did not see their fuel detector sensors light up used problem solving skills to determine where they went wrong to fix the issues.

This was an inspiring lesson that led many kids to say they were interested in STEM fields and their excitement showed throughout the activity. A special thank you goes out to the two wonderful Boeing employees for inspiring the Peters 4-6 students today!
