1 - No further local openings through the end of the week (we think):
The news yesterday (May 26) was that
Governor Newsom has allowed counties to have more in-store shopping and to open some personal care salons, provided that the local public health officer also allows it. For Sonoma County,
Dr. Mase has indicated that she does not intend to loosen restrictions further at least this week. Part of her stated concern is the State metric that looks at new cases per 100,000 people over a 14-day period. We are over the State's threshold amount in that metric, primarily because of solid contact tracing of persons in close proximity of COVID-19 cases.
In short, hair salons and in-store retail still awaits further re-opening in Sonoma County.

2 -- On the City Council's agenda for June 1st:
Please keep an eye out for an item on the City Council's agenda that would allow the City to issue limited outdoor activity permits for those businesses that may want to use public spaces (like sidewalks, alleys, and parking spaces) near their store or business to expand during social distancing requirements.
At the same meeting, the Council will also discuss limiting streets - or halves of streets - to non-vehicular uses. Staff's request initially is to ask the Council to discuss limitations on parts of Plaza, Center, and North. Please know that many businesses we've contacted are not necessarily supportive of concepts that remove cars entirely from these blocks (they're concerned about deliveries and curbside pickup), but most are open to limited restrictions, including short-term one-way streets with added areas for walking or biking or sitting.

3 -- Finally, the loan program:
For those of you who were recipients of the Small Business Sustainability loans, checks should be issued on Thursday, May 28. Remember that you need to have signed your Loan Agreement and provided a W-9 form to us.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) has hired Dr. Robert Eyler, Director of Forensic Economy and Analysis, to conduct a thorough study of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sonoma County.
The data in this survey will be crucial in determining impacts, evaluating the resources needed and creating policies for future events. With the recent amendment to Sonoma County’s Shelter in Place (SIP) order announced on Friday, Sonoma County Vintners is pleased to see that progress is being made and that some wineries have reopened or have plans to reopen soon. In an effort to address media and consumer inquiries regarding the reopenings, they have prepared a brief survey for you to help keep them informed of your winery status. They ask that you take a few minutes to complete this by clicking the button below.

as a resource for media and consumers to discover virtual programs and special offers, and it will be modified to include wineries that are open and complying with the new amendment to the SIP place order at this time.

Services Advisory Team
We know there are uncertain times ahead. Help us learn what services the community needs during COVID-19 to support you, your family, and your friends by volunteering for our community-based Services Advisory Team.
The goal of the Services Advisory Team (SAT) is to get direct feedback from a cross-section of the community on what their needs might be this summer, into the upcoming school year, and beyond.
We want to get input from parents, teens, single folks, our Latino community, older adults, and others. We will take this feedback – along with feedback from the City's Parks and Recreation Commission and direction from City Council - to help prioritize our services during a time of limited financial resources.
We envision the team meeting virtually either weekly or bi-weekly at a day and time that is yet to be determined. Meetings will last about an hour.
