Welcome to the our weekly newsletter The MACC Minute.  We hope it will inspire you to get involved.

"If you see something, say something" is a slogan we are all too familiar with today. A volunteer from South United Methodist Church saw something and did something! She witnessed our struggle to keep a good selection of meat in the emergency food pantry, took the need to her church, and MACC received $2,000 to buy meats. Power of One!

MACC is an action agency partnered with Operation Fuel. Ensuring equitable access to energy and water utility assistance to lower and moderate-income working families, elderly residents and individuals with disabilities. This year we joined the water utility assistance program to provide our community with assistance that was once limited. Benefiting those with shut off notices or have no water service.

Chef Ferdinand Cruz
Chef MACC Kitchen

This past week a group of us came together for our quarterly crock pot meals. This month's featured meal is beef stew. We assembled kits that contained all the ingredients that would allow families to easily follow the recipe card. Bringing families closer together for home cooked meals is one of the many things we do here at MACC Charities.

When people ask, "What is needed in the Thrift store"?  I always answer," think of the things we need every day. THAT is what is needed!  To be able to have clothing for each season, available for everyone to choose from, be it our faithful shoppers or a person in need is what Community Threads Thrift Shoppe is all about!

Helping others in the community can start right in your very own neighborhood! The residents of Overlook Drive came together to conduct a food collection and monetary donation for the MACC Pantry. After seeing poverty elsewhere, the kids wanted to do something in their own community to help break the cycle of poverty here in Manchester. Thank you Overlook Drive!

Outreach Case Worker

MACC's Outreach Program is an information highway for our community members. We stay in the loop of programs and services in the Greater Hartford area to best support an individual's need. We network with other agencies to stay well informed of the services being offered. We are here to listen, assess emergency needs, share information and provide access to resources.
