Center Stage Series presents the Lorelei Ensemble Saturday, November 17, 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Led by Luther alumna Beth Willer ‘03, Lorelei reinvents music of the medieval, Renaissance, and baroque periods to reveal the extraordinary flexibility and strength of the human voice. Get your tickets at the ticket office or online at tickets.luther.edu . Tickets are FREE for students with CAF, and general admission tickets are also available for students.

In order to ensure that all employees' hours are accurately recorded as worked, the submission and approval deadlines for Web Time Entry for the biweekly pay cycles will change. The change will be effective for the 11/03/18-11/16/18 pay period. Starting with this payroll, employees, both regular and student, will have until midnight on the last Friday of the pay period to enter and submit their hours. Supervisors will have until noon on the Monday following the last day of the pay period to approve hours. Payroll and Student Employment will have a Q&A session on Thursday, 11/15/18, from 10:15 am-10:45 am in Borlaug. Please call 563-387-1135 or email  [email protected]  with questions.

WINTER BIKE STORAGE  is on Wednesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 15 from 3-6 p.m. Please bring your bike to Ashmore-Jewell Barn (Red Barn in Baker Village) to have it placed in secure, dry storage for the winter. Bikestorage is FREE for all Luther students. Bikes must be registered at the Welcome Desk in the Union prior to being stored. Bikes will not be accepted unless they are registered.

Luther College's Music Department will present a concert featuring Luther's Wind and Percussion Ensemble and Varsity Band at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall.

Chi Theta Rho (XOP) is selling hot apple cider in the Union and outside in the Valders Terrace on Thursday, November 15 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Stop by and pick up a hot drink to warm you up on a chilly day! $1 per 8 oz. cup -- you can also bring your own mug/thermos to fill if you like!

Thanksgiving Sale Wednesday, November 14- Wednesday, November 21. Stop in the Book Shop for some pre-Thanksgiving day promotions that you will not want to miss before you head out of town. Gobble, Gobble!

Textbooks for J-term Study Abroad classes are now available to purchase or rent in the Book Shop.

Students who plan on being in town for Thanksgiving are invited to Pulpit Rock Brewery for Thanksgiving dinner. Pete and his crew at Pulpit Rock Brewery will serve a free meal from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, November 22. No alcohol will be served at this event. Follow-up Discussion to Jonathan Haidt's Lecture: Professor Storm Bailey will facilitate a discussion aimed at exploring provocative questions raised by Haidt's ideas: Are insensitive comments microaggressions? Does speech have the power to harm? Are there ideas that can't be raised in Luther classrooms? Come add your thoughts to the conversation. Tuesday, November 13, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Valders 206. Sponsored by the CEPE.

Dr. Brian Farrell , Lecturer in Law and Human Rights, Director of the Citizen Lawyer Program, and Associate Director of the Center for Human Rights at the University of Iowa College of Law, is coming to Luther to talk about the Innocence Project in Iowa. The Project seeks to exonerate inmates who have been falsely accused, especially of serious crimes. The talk will be on Monday, November 12 from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in Koren 217.

Would you like to help DESIGN an escape room? Come join SAC Entertainment and SAC Impact for our first meeting to brainstorm themes for the escape rooms that will be presented in the Spring! The meeting will be held in the SAC office (near Oneota Market) on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:15 p.m.! Be there to join the fun!

Mark Hostetler , professor of wildlife ecology and conservation at the University of Florida, will speak at Luther College as part of the Biology Colloquium series at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, November 15, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206.

Luther College's Philharmonia presents their orchestral program at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

The Luther College Chamber Orchestra will present their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall.

Luther College presents guest pianist Rochelle Sennet at the Dorian Keyboard Festival. She will perform at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 10, in the Noble Recital Hall of Jenson Noble Hall of Music. Sennet will perform Bach's "English Suite no. 4 in F Major, BWV 809," Liszt's arrangement of Wagner "Isolde's Liebestod" from "Tristan and Isolde" and James Lee III's "Souls of Alkebulan."

The 61st annual Luther College Dorian Keyboard Festival will showcase the top performers of the festival in two recitals Saturday, November 10, with the Middle School Students Honors Recital at 4:45 p.m. and the High School Student Honors Recital at 5:30 p.m. The performances are held in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year? Maybe not for everyone. Counseling Service and Residence Life are sponsoring Handling the Holidays workshops which will identify and provide tips around the various challenges of holiday breaks for students, as well as how to support friends who may struggle. November 14, 8 p.m. Olson Second Study Lounge and at
9 p.m., Brandt Social Lounge; November 15 9 p.m. Ylvisaker Study Lounge. All students welcome at any session. Free holiday cookies provided!

Campus Programming is seeking one student assistant to begin in January 2019. Campus Programming Student Assistants work with the Center Stage Series, the Distinguished Lectures Series, and other campus events. Tasks include creating marketing tools, managing social media accounts, and assembling programs for events. Must be able to work independently and as a group.
