Another Project Finished - Thanks to You

FLOODING * SPLASHING *
FINALLY A SOLUTION!
On rainy days the water runs across from the south side of Lester, down Cherry, across Linden, and through a narrow alley to Waverly. This seasonal gusher was the origin of our infamous Rubber Ducky Race... a lighthearted nod to a serious situation. Neighbors receiving the brunt of the storm lobbied long and hard with the city, the county, UofA, and Banner for many years to mitigate the flooding. Banner's underground catchments and green space has helped...but the water still does come. And the cars do still race through the water, spraying on the neighbor's walls.
It's a "Do it Yourself World" - You made it happen!
No city monies, no county monies, just the hard work of volunteers and neighbor's dues to Jefferson Park Neighborhood Assn and donations to the Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. made this happen. The traffic is slower and safer and maybe we can someday afford an upgrade with curb and plantings. For now, nearby
residents
are grateful for living in a
neighborhood
that cares.

Buffelgrass invasion in JPN - you can help!

Buffelgrass has invaded Jefferson Park! Buffelgrass is a non-native grass that chokes out native plants and creates a fire risk in our alleys and backyards.
Learn more.
You can help! Join your neighbors in a buffelgrass pull this Saturday, March 16th! We will meet at the Edison Parklet at Edison and the Campbell frontage road at 8 am. Come and learn how to identify buffelgrass and how to remove it. Stay for the buffelgrass pull at different locations around the neighborhood or leave after the demo. Orange dots on the map show locations of buffelgrass. Bring a shovel or other digging tool if you have one!

Banner Hospital patients who wander...
|
There have been reports of patients leaving the Banner property and short-cutting through the neighborhood.
These folks are in various states of health. Patients on foot are not good for Banner, not good for the neighborhood, and not good for the patients.
Banner Security has agreed to keep a record of calls to them about any encroachment into the neighborhood of patients, visitors, hospital-related traffic etc. An accurate record will let us know if other measures need to be taken to guide folks off the Banner campus. So, neighbors, please follow this protocol:
Call Banner Security 520-694-6533 if you witness any patients or find any tossed bandages etc.
If the situation warrants, call 911 BUT ALSO call Banner Security so it can be recorded.
We appreciate Banner's willingness to be pro-active, and neighbors must be diligent about reporting occurrences.
