News from our Food Pantry

" It's that time again! The MACC Pantry has put together a meal created by our very own Chef - Beef Stew! Through a generous grant from SBM, the Food Pantry has been able to provide crock pots for our families with children, and supply the ingredients for a meal each quarter. We love to see families brought together at the table!"

Executive Director/CEO

Sometimes, rescued fruits and vegetables come in already past their prime, others do not look appealing when they attract gnats and fruit flies to them. This time of year, t he best gift you can provide our guests who visit our pantry is fresh produce items with longer shelf lives, such as, apples, pears or oranges. Many vegetables are good too!

This Wednesday, March 11th is Housing and Homelessness Advocacy day! Just last year alone, the Coordinated Access Network (2-1-1 CAN) system held over 14K appointments to connect households to critical housing resources. MACC alone assisted with 23 housing appointments. With limited programs for housing, MACC relies on donations for financial support, assisting those in need in the Greater Manchester Area.

This week at MACC, I would like to acknowledge the student volunteers that come in to give us a helping hand. They have come a long way in learning the everyday routines here at the MACC kitchen. I am proud to watch their growth and development. The understanding and initiatives that are being taken have sincerely touched and impressed me.

Operations Assistant

This week I want to spotlight a volunteer that has been with us 11+ years.  Lisa Kurtz comes in once a week (sometimes more) with a smile on her face and a willingness to do anything Chef asks of her.  Lisa makes the centerpieces on our tables to make it a cheerful place to come and eat. Thank you, Lisa,!

Our volunteers are the backbone of MACC. They come each week to assist in our daily operations. Just recently a volunteer (who happens to be a registered nurse), noticed one of our guests was choking, she sprang into action and used the Heimlich maneuver on them. She successfully dislodged the foreign object and opened the airways for them to breathe.

The support you provide to Bistro on Main changes lives.

"Bistro is my first real job. Honestly, I never thought I could hold down a job. But Chef Ben and the other managers have been so encouraging, but also unbelievably demanding.  They call the best out of each of us."- Quote from anonymous staff member.

Thank you for your support!
