The start of the 2020 Lake Ontario Racing Season is less than 12-weeks away...can you believe it.

The Nine Race Dates have all been set, Notice of Race details posted, crews are starting to be arranged and of course, parties are being planned.

The Racing Fleet itself is also filling-in nicely with some old and new rivalries already developing. Additionally we've started to hear some sailing stories of "new this" and "fixed that"...we shall see how aspirations to improve boat speed or racing technique translates to reality on race day.

Remember this year is the 31st LO300 Challenge and the 4th LO600 Challenge.

The first race of the season, the Susan Hood Trophy Race, is scheduled for Friday, May 29th and the LOSHRS RACING SEASON begins on Sunday, May 31st.

If you haven't registered please make sure you use the links below to sign up and pay for the races before the March 15th Early Bird deadline and save enough money to buy something for your boat.

Early Bird Registration Deadline - March 15th  
The Early Bird Registration deadline for the LO300 Challenge, the Susan Hood Trophy Race and the LOSHRS races, is end of day on Sunday, March 15th, 2020.

Registration is only considered completed when full payment has been made. Full pricing will be applied to unpaid registrations after Sunday, March 15th.

Offshore Special Regulations & Safety Requirements

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing follows World Sailing's Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) for safety requirements over and above governmental requirements. Requirements vary by category and the LOOR versions of the OSRs are available at:
 
PERFORMANCE:
North Sail PHRF and IRC Measurements

Once again, North Sails Toronto is providing complimentary sail measurement ahead of the 2020 sailing and racing season. If you need to get your sails measured or if you have a new sail.
 
Contact North Sails today @ Toronto@northsails.com to schedule.
 
Although this only takes about 30-minutes don't leave this to the last minute (and preferably not the day before the race).

Crew Bank - Need Crew or interested in Crewing?
If you are a sailor and interested in participating in one of the Lake Ontario Offshore Races, or a skipper who needs crew, use the Crew/Boats Boards on the Yacht Scoring Registration and Official Document page.

Sailors for the Seas / Clean Regettas
In July of 2019, LOOR's registered the Lake Ontario 300 with Sailors for the Seas which is a globally recognized agency that promotes "Clean Regattas" through several Best Practices and practical strategies.  

Sailors for the Seas/Clean Regattas is the world's only sustainability certification for water-based events. The Clean regatta program offer's boater's, race organizers and marina/yacht club managers a new updated tool kit of 20 Best Practices to improve their environmental footprint. Since 2004 Sailors for the Seas, has been utilized more than 2000 times, in 36 countries. Their aim is to promote global awareness as to the impact that we are having on our waterways.
