JANUARY WOMEN'S POTLUCK DINNER
Happy New Year Wonderful Women!
Come gather ‘round the fire. The January potluck dinner will be at my house on Wednesday, January 22. It may be cold outside, but I’m looking forward to the warmth of your company. I will have a gluten-free entree, and will need the usual appetizers, salads, beverages, and desserts. Please try to come! These get-togethers have been so much fun—a really nice chance to laugh and enjoy each other’s company. I’m so happy that this idea has taken off! This will be the seventh one. It is becoming a “thing!” Let’s march it into the new year and commit to fun, friends and good fellowship.
Address: 16 Robinson Court, Westbrook

LIFE AFTER BUILDING
PANEL DISCUSSION
Tuesday, January 28, 6-9 pm, Chapel
A reminder that we have scheduled a panel discussion to hear from local ministers who are affiliated with churches that have sold their buildings. We’d like to invite you to attend this discussion scheduled for
Tuesday, January 28 from 6 – 9 pm in the Chapel
. Please join us to hear the innovative and thought-provoking discussion that is sure to take place. And even if you can’t imagine selling part or all of the building, we encourage you to come listen.
NEW MISSION PARTNER
We are happy to announce a new Mission Partner joining us at Woodfords. A Tuesday AA group will meet in Seely Hall on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30. They will be starting on January 21. If you see them in or around the building, please welcome them!
WELCOME CENTER GREETERS NEEDED
A big "Thank You" to everyone who volunteered this fall and Advent season to welcome newcomers and visitors to Woodfords Church on Sunday mornings at our new Welcome Center! We've received very positive feedback about this new initiative!
The Welcome Center is a place for visitors to be greeted warmly, gather information about our church and ministries, make a name tag, and have basic questions answered. Our own members have also been enjoying watching the slide show run on the screen about the Welcome Center table!
One or two people are needed every Sunday to staff the table. Can you help? This is a great opportunity for families or multi-generational pairs of friends to volunteer together!
Please use this Sign Up or contact Kristen Crean (
kristencrean@gmail.com
or 232-6688) to volunteer! THANK YOU!

FEBRUARY BOOK CLUB
Hello readers of Woodfords-
Our next book group, on Feb 12 @ 12:15, will discuss
Where the Crawdads Sing
by Delia Evans. It is available in many forms [audio, print, ebook] at the libraries in the area. This group is open to anyone or any friend of the church!
A review from
Amazon.com
. "Where the Crawdads Sing is immersed in the natural world. The story is set in the 1950's and revolves around a young woman named Kya Clark, who is from extremely rural North Carolina. Known by others as the Marsh Girl, she lives alone in nature—but the draw of other people, and specifically love, brings her into contact with the greater world. This novel has a mystery at its core, but it can be read on a variety of levels. There is great nature writing; there is coming of age; and there is literature. Crawdads is a story lovingly told—one that takes its time in developing its characters and setting, and in developing the story. You’ll want to relax and take your time as well, and when you’re done you will want to talk about it with another reader.”
LADIES VALENTINE'S TEA
Saturday, February 15
The Ladies' Valentines Tea will be Saturday, February 15 from 2 to 4 pm in the Cloister. All Ladies of the church and friends are welcome regardless of age. We always have a wonderful time with visiting, tea and many wonderful treats. Fancy dress is optional and the younger ladies are free to bring their dolls.
There will be a sign up sheet in the lounge after coffee hour Jan. 26 and Feb 2 & 6 for anyone who wishes to make any goodies or to help set up and clean up.
If we have a blizzard that day, there is no snow date, the tea will just be cancelled.
We look forward to seeing you there!

It's getting to be that time of year! Looking ahead to stormy winter days with snow and ice, we would like to remind you of Woodfords' policy regarding closing the building and cancelling events. before coming to an event on a snow day.
If you are attending a meeting or event not connected to Woodfords, please contact your organizer directly for information about cancellation.
Saturdays: a decision will be made by 7:00 am regarding closing the building and cancelling Woodfords events or meetings. Sundays: a decision will be made by 7:00 am regarding the worship service, closing the building and cancelling Woodfords events or meetings.
In all cases, closing announcements will be posted on Facebook, our website (
