On March 11, 2019, Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) will partner with the Plastic Bag Ban of Newfoundland and Labrador group to stage a #BanTheBag Social Media Day of Action to call on the provincial government to develop a province-wide ban on single-use plastic bags. According to MNL, each year eight million tonnes of plastic is finding its way into the oceans, In NL almost 50% of all windborne litter escaping from landfills is plastic, much of it single-use plastic bags. .
The Town of Paradise supports the Day of Action. Share your views on social media, using #BantheBag to call on the provincial government to develop a province-wide ban on single-use plastic bags. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is doing public consultations to learn more about how a potential ban of single use plastic bags could impact residents, businesses, and organizations.
