Hot off the heels of the Explore+ release, Rochester RHIO is supporting an extra layer of security for accounts that use the RHIO Provider Portal. Two-factor authentication creates an extra layer of security to better protect patient health data.
If you've ever set up two-factor authentication with any of your online accounts, such as your bank, the new process will feel familiar to you. You also should be able to use your preferred tool for authentication such as Duo, Google Authenticator, and more.
Two-factor
authentication will be rolled out in a phased approach starting in November. All authorized Provider Portal users will be configured by the end of the year. This change fulfills the New York State requirement that a Qualified Entity, like Rochester RHIO, authenticate platform users to the
NIST Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL 2).
