Meanwhile, we have been working with a social impact group in Peru to offer our
MicroMasters program in Statistics and Data Science to a cohort of learners. Through this partnership, we offer additional support for learners and already it's having a big impact. We think this model will work well for other groups, from similar social impact organizations to companies looking to educate and retain smart data scientists.
We are pleased to congratulate our very first graduate of the IDSS
Social and Engineering Systems PhD program (SES): Ian Schneider. His dissertation ‘Market Design Opportunities for an Evolving Power System’ exemplifies the way in which IDSS research addresses complex societal challenges that lie at the intersection of engineering and computing, the social sciences, and economics.
