Greenwich Girl Scouts
Tues, May 26 - Fri, May 29
Greenwich Girl Scouts (Troop 50681) are working towards their Bronze Award and will be collecting new and gently used books to distribute to our community. We ask you to see if you have any new or gently used books that you can donate to our book drive. All reading levels are needed, preschool to adults. These books can be dropped off in the lobby of the Board of Education Building at 290 Greenwich Avenue between the hours of
10am - 3pm.
You can also contact troop50681@gmail.com for after hours drop off locations. Books will be cleaned and separated by reading levels and distributed to our Greenwich Public School families.
Perrot Library
Mon, April 13- June 1st In honor of National Poetry Month, Perrot is sponsoring a haiku poetry contest open to students in grades 3 and up, as well as adults. We are seeking original haikus (3-line, 17-syllable poems) describing your experience with COVID-19-- the pandemic, the closures, and their impact on your daily life.
Poems will be accepted beginning
Monday, April 13th, through Monday, June 1. Winners will be announced on Monday, June 15th.

We made it to Memorial Day weekend! Hooray!
Just a few quick reminders today:
- The optional Class Placement Request Form is due today at 5:00 p.m.
- STEM Fair digital boards are due by the end of today, too.
- School Supply Kits for the 2020-21 school year are available for purchase (see below). If you have not yet purchased, you have until May 31.
- Please consider volunteering for a PTA role next year! We have no idea what the year will bring, but we know we will need your support!
And most importantly, please enjoy a safe, fun, and happy Memorial Day weekend.
There is no school on Monday. And as heads up, Friday, May 29 will still be a Flex Friday.

PLAY & PLAY IT FORWARD FOR 1 MORE WEEK! We are extending this virtual fundraiser for 1 more week...keep playing and donating until Friday, May 29th. In light of current events within our state and community, Riverside School is going to PLAY AND PAY IT FORWARD in support of the Connecticut Alliance of Foster & Adoptive Families (CAFAF). All proceeds from the Play and Pay It Forward initiative will
go directly to CAFAF families who are struggling to care for their fostered or adopted children because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ORDER YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR 2020-2021
The PTA is once again sponsoring a school supply fundraiser for the upcoming school year. Order now and your child's box of supplies will be delivered directly to the classroom by the first day of school.
Everyone will have the chance at some point to collect headphones/earbuds from the school to use again next year.

SAVE THE DATE - SPRING PTA GENERAL MEETING
Please save the date of
Wednesday, June 3rd at 3:00pm for our bi-annual PTA General Meeting, which will be held via Zoom. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
The agenda will include usual business items, plus elements of our Volunteer Tea, and a guest speaker(s) who will address the topic of elementary-specific behaviors during social distancing and distance learning.

SPRING AFTERS REFUNDS/CREDITS
If your child(ren) had been registered for Spring Afters, you can request a refund or a credit through Flex Academies. An email from Flex with a "Refund Survey" was sent out on Friday, April 17th.

DISTANCE LEARNING RESOURCES
GPS is offering a hub of resources and information for Distance Learning. You can view the information on the
GPS Distance Learning Website. There is also a
support team in place you can contact should you have any issues accessing content.
Students can reach out directly to teachers for assignment and content questions.

POSTURE AWARENESS
Stiff neck and shoulders? Back pains? Tight all over? Ask yourself, what's your posture like when using your digital device? With everyone working from home for the foreseeable future, we need to be more aware than ever of the right posture while using these devices.
PTAC Health and Wellness has created a tip sheet to help students, parents and teachers use the correct posture at home. There are some easy and helpful tips to help you and the family stay healthy while working.

Please submit Health form for incoming K, 3rd graders or 3rd graders going to 4th that have not been submitted yet. Health Assessments should include Dental/HCT/HBG.
All Vaccinations are to be up to date/completed or they WILL NOT be allowed to attend - No Exceptions.
The CDC recommendations are children to continue receiving vaccinations during this time and to not miss. If you have them "already" please submit with vaccinations to Melissa Luiso melissa_luiso@greenwich.k12.ct.us
