A Note from our Executive Director
Dear friend,
I always think about leadership, but during the past seven months, it has become even more apparent to me how important leadership is and how important representation is. In the last few weeks, many of my friends of color spoke about how meaningful it is to them to see someone who shares their story in our nation’s top leadership.
For the first time - so many of us see ourselves in the President and Vice President (elect.) Women are trembling to see a woman VP. Indian and Asian Americans are represented. Black women and men are represented. Jews are excited to see a Jewish second husband. Catholics are represented. Children of immigrants are represented. We ALL have great role models now.
At IVYP we are continuing our work on advancing racial justice and representation, not only among our staff but in our leadership as well. Our board has taken this head on and has dedicated time at each monthly meeting to discuss identity, diversity, and equity.
I look forward to continuing our work together.
