Congratulations to Our February Employees of the Month!
Congratulations to Linh Tran Baron, who teaches at Carrillo Elementary School, and Jamie Gonzalez who is an Instructional Aide III at the Special Education Center at Mark Twain. The were recognized as our February Employees of the Month at our last Board of Education meeting.
New Elementary School Spelling Bee Winner Crowned
There was a buzz in the air at GGUSD's 32nd Annual Spelling Bee! Over 40 students competed for the top spot, with Peters (4-6) Elementary School student Jessica Truong outlasting five other finalists as she spelled resilience correctly. Congratulations to Jessica and all of the wonderful contestants!

These Roadrunners Show Their Heart
Lawrence Elementary School staff and students can brighten up even the rainiest 🌨 of days! The new “Roadrunners Are Doers” (RAD) Club has a mission to spread kindness on campus. Students wrote “kind messages” on hearts to display in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Dressed in red, pink and hearts, they patiently waited for a break in the rain so that they could get a picture showing how much heart ❤️ Lawrence Roadrunners have!  #GGUSDPride
Sixth Graders Visit Their Future Intermediate School Campuses
Sixth graders across the district can see the finish line as they inch toward the end of the school year and toward intermediate school! Each year our sixth graders take a visit to their future intermediate schools to get an introduction into the wonderful things they have to offer. Recently, Fitz and McGarvin Intermediate Schools had their future seventh graders on campus for their visits!
Destination Graduation Visit at Los Amigos
Last month, Los Amigos High School hosted a Destination Graduation visit with OC United Way's Sergio Contreras and Paula Mattson of Southern California Edison. The day included classroom visits, student presentations, and a panel discussion with Sergio Contreras and Paula Mattson.

OC United Way and Southern California Edison's are big supporters of the Destination Graduation AVID Program at Los Amigos.
GGUSD Employees Honored by Parenting OC Magazine
Santiago High School teacher Kelli Kubersky and Eloisa Magdaluyo, who is a speech language pathology assistant at Parkview and Gilbert Elementary Schools, were honored earlier this month by Parenting OC Magazine as 2019 School Heroes. The School Heroes program honors the teachers and employees at OC Schools "who make the daily lives of our local students and their parents that much better and more rewarding."

Both have been recognized as GGUSD Employees of the Month this school year as well.

Run for a Great Cause
Paine Elementary School teacher Terry Shepard is putting together her 12th Annual Team Running with Todd, which runs in honor of her son Todd who passed away at the age of 18 of Ewings Sarcoma. The team will participate in the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation: Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17, 2019.
