REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY NEWS

Marijuana and Real Estate - A Budding Issue
Source: National Association of REALTORS®

Highlights

The legalization of marijuana has started to impact the real estate industry. If marijuana is legal within a state, the product is grown, harvested, stored, sold, and consumed within state lines. As such, commercial practitioners are finding increased demand for land, warehouses, and store fronts for marijuana. Residential practitioners are navigating an environment of marijuana being used within rental properties, homeowner associations creating rules about consumption and growth, and title questions selling a home where the product has been grown and consumed. This report dives into these themes using a survey among members of the National Association of REALTORS®.

The report is broken down by how long marijuana has been legal within the state. The legality was based on laws that were in place at the time the survey was deployed in fall of 2019.

Access the report here.
COMMITTEE CORNER

The Public Relations Committee is excited to once again hold a crab raffle to benefit a worthwhile charitable organization -- Bayside Community Networks' Camp C.A.R.E.

Camp C.A.R.E. is the only summer camp in Cecil County that is staffed and equipped with trained, qualified personnel to offer a camp experience for children with disabilities from 5-20 years old. Camp C.A.R.E. is a day camp providing a positive experience for every child who attends and fills the need for summer programming for children with special needs. Bayside provides at-door pick up and drop off for those children in wheelchairs and a meeting point to pick up and drop off campers who do not require wheelchair accommodation.

In addition to winning a bushel of crabs, you will get 2-lbs of steamed shrimp + $25 gift certificate for your beverage of choice.

Ticket Prices: One for $5.00 / Six for $20.00

The winning ticket will be drawn on April 22 at  CCBOR's Expo & Convention  taking place at Rosewood Farms.

Tickets can be purchased from any of the Public Relation committee members (see below), or at the Board office. Tickets will also be available at our upcoming events and classes.

The CARE Committee has worked diligently to proudly submit the charitable activities performed by our members each year for the CARE Award. This is a monetary award given to local board/associations or their charitable foundations recognizing awareness in community service and charitable actions. The $18,000 award will be equally divided between the large and small board winner. Throughout the years, Cecil County was awarded over $65,000 that we shared with local charities. We would love to win this award this year but need your help in doing so.

If you lead the activities for a 501(c) organization, provide us with the name of the organization, the activities that are conducted, and either how much money was raised and the impact it had on the geographical area and number of people serviced. For this year's award, the documented events must take place between June 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020.

One of the activities led by CCBOR is the extension of the food drive that was kicked off at the Holiday Party in December. Please drop off non-perishable food items at the Board office.
