The Alliance for Pioneer Square is a proud cultural partner of the 2019 Seattle Art Fair presented by AIG, a unique and innovative art experience showcasing the vibrant culture and diversity of the Pacific Northwest.
Taking place August 1-4 at CenturyLink Field Event Center, the fair features over 90 local, regional, and international art galleries presenting modern and contemporary art.
Now in its fifth year, Seattle Art Fair has established itself as a one-of-a-kind destination for the best in modern and contemporary art, highlighting the vibrant arts community of the Pacific Northwest, and bringing together the region’s strong collector base and thousands of international visitors. For the second time, renowned curator Nato Thompson will return as Artistic Director, leading the fair’s curatorial vision and bringing dynamic programming by internationally-acclaimed artists.

Every First Thursday of the month, Pioneer Square welcomes you to join us in the venerated tradition of Art Walk with exceptional artists, innovative works, and creative kinship.
During Art Walk, parking is FREE from 5-10 PM! Make sure to grab your voucher from a participating gallery or studio to park for free at one of three neighborhood garages.

, who operates in the Good Arts building
'57 Biscayne
space, is a skilled designer, trained in the heart of the French perfume industry. Certified as a Fragrance Specialist through The Fragrance Foundation UK and student of Senior Perfumers, Laurence Fauvel and Carole Andre of the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in Grasse, France - Molly brings luxury to Seattle. For designer Molly Ray, fragrance completes daily life, powerfully affecting the pathways of our minds, feelings, memories, and future. A respected national figure in corporate sustainability it is only natural that Molly’s blends source raw, gourmand, and sustainable materials. Always synthetic free and in tune with your natural body temperature, Molly’s blends are elevated and organic. With her excess materials, Ray donates to local women’s shelter, Mary’s Place. She recognizes how fragrance can restore a sense of dignity and is a luxury item that is otherwise forgotten among donations.

East/West Connections Open House Recap
We are partnering with Waterfront Seattle to improve key east-west streets to strengthen connections between Pioneer Square and the waterfront.
On July 30th, Waterfront Seattle and the Alliance co-hosted a project open house at AXIS. Since the previous open house in April, Waterfront Seattle developed concept designs for
pedestrian improvements on portions of Main, Washington, King and Yesler streets between Alaskan Way and 2nd Ave S. During July's open house, members of the community learned more about the project, viewed the proposed designs for east-west streets, connected with the project team, and heard how public feedback informs the design. Art Outside the Box!
The
Pioneer Square Resident's Council
recently announced the completion of their pilot public art project in Pioneer Square.
The project included decorating five SDOT signal boxes along 1st Ave. This project was funded by the Pioneer Square Business Improvement Area as part of our 2019 Inspiration Fund. Looking good, 1st Ave!

Pioneer Park Refresh
You may have seen Seattle Parks and Recreation staff hard at work in Pioneer Park applying a fresh coat of paint to the park's metal fencing.
Additionally, Parks and Recreation removed, refurbished, and installed the benches in Pioneer Park. Another lovely public realm improvement in Pioneer Square!

WSDOT continues to remove the Alaskan Way Viaduct from Seattle's waterfront to make way for the City of Seattle's
Waterfront Seattle Program
.
The Alaskan Way Viaduct demolition is on the edge of Pioneer Square this summer. Demolition has already begun at the South end of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. View WSOT's

Pioneer Square
Areaways Program
|
SDOT recently implemented a strict vehicle weight limitation, increased commercial vehicle enforcement, and modified commercial vehicle load zone locations beyond the 1st Ave corridor.
Throughout 2019-2020, SDOT will install a monitoring system and conduct a complete assessment of the areaways to determine a long-term plan of action to repair necessary areas. In the meantime, our goal is to provide adjacent businesses and residents with accurate and timely information as we move forward to improve safety.

Proposed New Cruise Terminal Information Session Follow-Up
The Port of Seattle Commission recently approved $348 million to invest in the future of the Seattle’s working waterfront. A key investment is a proposed cruise terminal at Terminal 46 (King Street and Alaskan Way).
In May, the Port of Seattle hosted an information session regarding the proposed terminal. Visitors learned about the proposed cruise terminal and timeline, Seattle's cruise industry and its passengers, and background on how cruise terminals work and operations on a typical day. If you own a historical landmark in King County don't miss this opportunity to apply for funds to repair or restore it.
The Landmarks Capital program, led by 4Culture, supports brick and mortar projects that contribute to our region's identity. Whether you are an individual owner or you represent an organization, if you are the steward of a designated historic landmark property in King County and are working to rehabilitate it, you should consider applying for a Landmarks Capital grant. he Alliance for Pioneer Square is partnering with WSDOT,the City of Seattle, Downtown Seattle Association and nearby parking garages to offer parking spaces for just $3/hour, up to four hours.
In Pioneer Square - Stadium Place Garage, First & Columbia and the Butler Garage are all part of the affordable parking program. This means cheap and available parking is plentiful within a few blocks of your destination.
