Dates coming up
Penance and Reconciliation Family Event in January

We will have a Penance Family Event in January. Plan to attend one of these dates:
  • Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, January 25 at 9:30 AM
Parents and children attend together.  (Neither parents nor children should be there without each other, since it is a family event.)

We will review all that the children have learned about the sacrament of penance and reconciliation in a fun and enriching way. The session will take about 60-70 minutes.

Please RSVP here, so that we can plan for the date you have chosen.

The celebration of Penance and Reconciliation  for the children and families will be:
  • March 7 at 1:00 PM at St. Emily

Praying the Act of Contrition

The students have begun to learn the Act of Contrition in class. Please make sure to help your son or daughter to meet the milestone of memorizing it.  If s/he has not done so, there is certainly still time to learn.  The best way is to say it at bedtime every night.  (In fact, it is a good practice for anyone to say it at the end of the day.)

My God,
I am sorry for my sins
with my whole heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
who I should love above all things.

I firmly intend with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name,
my God, have mercy.

Makes a Wonderful First Communion Gift

We have commissioned rosaries for the parish of St. Emily.  Available with either blue or brown beads, these were crafted in Italy.  The crucifix is modeled on the one that hangs in the church and St. Emily is on the center medal.

This would make a great First Communion gift for any communicant.

These are available at the St. Emily parish office for $25.00 each.

missal missal2Buying a Missal for Your Child

At our meeting, I suggested that you might want to buy a missal for your child now.  It will help him or her to learn the mass prayers as s/he follows along.

Here is the link from Amazon to buy the missal.

Bringing their 'special book' to church is an encouragement and great assist for children in learning the prayers of the mass and how to follow along.
