This is the final chapter to our short summer series of The Kingdom's Chronicle. We now turn into the last week of the summer break looking forward to both Meet the Teacher events (please see the schedule below for both dates as they do vary by grade level). This week is also "preplanning" for all of the teachers. Our educators arrive back on campus Monday morning as they will be preparing their classrooms and attending group functions in the last steps for a successful open to the new school year on Monday, August 12th.

As for this update, you will find some important back-to-school information below which includes key dates and times. Please take care to note any of these items that directly affect your child. We want all of our Knights set for a terrific start one week from Monday!

All of the teachers, support staff, and our leadership team are looking forward to seeing our Knight families at Meet the Teacher. Have a good Monday and I hope to see you this week!

With Knight Pride,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.

Learning to be a Knight!

Summer is the perfect time to advance every child's learning in a fun and engaging environment. LNMS offered a number of programs for students this summer as enrichment opportunities. As an example, this summer new 6th grade students attended a transition day to their home zoned middle school. Students participated in activities to orient them to LNMS so they will be successful on their first day. Thank you Ms. Holman and Ms. Alberti!

Knight Planner

A student planner is given to each student in order to create organization and better communication (below is the front cover picture of the 2019-2020 LNMS planner). Student planners provide an easy and creative method of taking note of their commitments and deadlines. Most often students get confused and frazzled with having to keep up and plan for their many classes, assignments, test dates and so forth. Using these planners, students are able to take full responsibility and accountability to complete their work.

Knight Bells

Knights, be sure to take a moment and review our bell schedule. Students should not be dropped off on campus earlier than 9:00 am unless they are registered for the Before School All-Stars Program.

KNIGHTS LOOK Skyward

OCPS is now transitioning over to Skyward from ProgressBook. This school year, all OCPS campuses will be moving from what our parents, students and teachers know as "ProgressBook" to a new platform called "Skyward." The information below was provided by our district leads on what to expect in the coming months as we roll out this new program.

PE Uniform and Optional Lock Rental Information

To purchase the school's PE uniform of $20.00 is made easy to you by having two options. In addition to paying cash you can go online and pay with a credit card and have your student pick up the uniform during class. The uniform consists of a top and bottom that is required for class and will be worn every day.

The two ways you can purchase your uniform is to send cash to school with your student to purchase during class or to go online at www.school.pay.com found on our school website and use your credit card. If you choose a credit card, the student will pick up the uniform during PE class. As soon as the payment is completed online and the daily print out of updated online payments is processed, we will then give your student their PE uniform. Please give up to 24 hours to be updated. The deadline for online purchasing is August 16th. After this, students may still purchase PE uniforms during PE class through their PE teachers.

Lock rental is to be paid in cash only during class and not through school pay as we sell out quickly. Locker rental is not required, but strongly encouraged. Locker rentals are $10.00. This fee covers the locker for the entire school year. Lock is already included in this fee.

We do not accept checks!

Encouraged tip: The purchasing of additional PE uniforms is a very good idea. Keeping one uniform at school while the other is being washed at home ensures your student is forever ready for class which is a significant part of their grade.
