Father in heaven, the day draws near when the glory of your Son
will make radiant the night of the waiting world.
May we be open and willing recipients of the joy
which moves the hearts of those who seek him.
May the darkness not blind us to the vision of wisdom
which fills the minds of those who find him.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen

In the Prayer Room
Each week after the 9:00 AM service, our prayer ministers, Bill and Linda White,
will be available in the Prayer Room
to pray for any persons who would like personal prayer. You can come to them for prayers for friends, relatives, loved ones. You can come and ask prayer for yourself. You can make very specific requests or very general requests, whichever is more comfortable. Bill and Linda will offer prayers for you and those you are concerned about right then and there.
If others are already being prayed for, please take a seat in the front pew and they will turn to you as soon as they are able.
These prayers are held in love and in strict confidence, unless you give permission for them to share. Bill and Linda have served in prayer ministry
for many years, in several churches. They are compassionate, helpful and supportive. We are grateful to be able to offer this ministry to you.
If you would be interested in becoming a personal prayer partner in this ministry, please contact them at

THREE SIMPLE RULES

DO GOOD
STAY IN LOVE WITH GOD
Many of us remember when Bishop Bob talked about this Wesleyan Way of Living book, "Three Simple Rules when he was a guest preacher at SHUMC. Many of us purchased copies of the book to read on our own.
In January we will have the opportunity to not only hear Pastor Deborah preach on these topics but also to attend a class to discuss what these statements mean. Rev. Richard Northup will be leading the classes, which will include a video and discussion, starting January 8 at 10:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall Meeting Room. The class will last 1 to 1 1/2 hours and will continue for 6 weeks. Price of the book will be $6 to $6.50, unless you still have your copy of the book. Sign up!

Tie a Knot and Say a Prayer

Have you ever been told you are a good listener? Do you have a desire to hear people's stories and provide encouragement? If you think you may have any of these gifts, consider signing up to be a Congregational Care Minister (CCM). As a congregation, we are striving to train CCMs to serve with our pastors and parish nurse in Congregational Care. If you wish to become a CCM, get a CCM interest packet from the church office. This includes CCM job description and an application form. Please contact Pastor Alma at 623-584-2280, pastoralma@shepherdofthehills.org or Kathy Culliton at 435-730-4466 or cullitonkathleen@gmail.com. Deadline is January 20, 2020.

Have you noticed the absence of a person in worship?
Give the Care Team an opportunity to follow up with any person you noticed has been absent from worship for a few weeks. One of the best ways is to write it in the Prayer and Presence Card's Comment Section. We also welcome notifications of when you have plans to go away for a while. THANK YOU for always loving and caring for each other.

CITRUS GLEANING TIME!
It is Citrus Gleaning Time Again! Each year SHUMC and PRIDES partner to glean citrus from homes in Sun City West. This is the 4th season of this partnership in service!

involved! No ladders!
Volunteers meet at SHUMC at 8:45 AM to get their assignments with the goal of starting gleaning at 9:00 AM. The groups usually are finished by 11:00, but will occasionally work until 11:30 AM.
