Dear Fairview Families:
Hello, everyone. I hope you are all well and hanging in there!
I was shocked when I discovered this is only the 38th day of the stay-at-home executive order.
Wow… it feels like forever, doesn’t it?
The “newness” and novelty of working from home has certainly worn off (after about the 2nd day!) and the District is deep into responding to the directives and guidance being provided (which seem to change daily - sometimes, hourly!) We’ve been trying to keep you as up to date with information as possible. It reminds me of my first white-water rafting trip where the waters and rapids were shifting fast and we were all paddling as fast as we could. This feels very similar! 😁
Here are a few quick thoughts for this week:
Parents
: Do what you can do!
Do whatever days/times that work for you and your family. If today was just a total meltdown and you didn’t get to something (or
any
thing),
don’t panic
.
Family first!
Just let your son/daughter’s teacher know when you can. Communication is the key. I’m confident that your child will not end up on Skid Row if he/she misses an assignment or two. We are always happy to work with you and help in any way we can.
We have seen a tremendous amount of concern and care for our seniors.
THANK YOU!
We greatly appreciate the level of support and interest in recognizing our graduating seniors. Recent events are having a truly devastating impact on some of our seniors’ biggest moments of their K-12 education. The District has been working on a variety of senior recognition activities and have been discussing these particular items for the past few months, anticipating we would be where we are now. Earlier today, I was on a Zoom meeting with the Senior class officers and Mr. Vicha (the 3rd or 4th meeting, I believe) as we are working out details with the students about Commencement, Prom, and the many other senior end-of-year activities. We will have our Class of 2020 yard signs distributed within the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
We know there are a bajillion other really important end-of-year things that normally occur each school year for our littlest Warriors to our Juniors as well. Our teachers and principals are working extremely hard to make sure we are doing all we can to keep things as “normal” as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding through all of this.
Be well and stay safe, everyone.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bill Wagner, Superintendent
