Arboriculture 101
Prep for the Certified Arborist Exam
Jan. 23-24 and Feb. 6-7, Bryan

Whether you are preparing for ISA's Certified Arborist exam, need CEUs, or are interested in improving your knowledge of trees, plan to attend Arboriculture 101. This popular class, taught by Dr. Todd Watson, is a comprehensive short-course designed to offer practitioners an in-depth understanding of urban trees and their care.

TRAQ Renewal Class
Registration Deadline is Jan. 24, 2020
Feb. 28, 2020, Waco

The TRAQ Renewal Course is a one-day refresher, with five hours of instruction, and three hours to take the exam. Current TRAQ holders can complete the course as early as three and one-half (3 1/2) years into their Qualification (18 months before your expiration date). If you received a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification between February 28, 2020 and August 28, 2021, you can register for this renewal. Once your current expiration date passes, you will need to retake the full course and assessment to be reinstated.
 
Once you have successfully passed the renewal requirements, you will be given 5 years from the date of your previous expiration allowing you to take full advantage of the 5 year period granted with the credential.

It is time for the 11th Bilingual Tree Care & Safety Workshop in San Antonio. Learn from tree care leaders Skip Kincaid, Guy LeBlanc, and Eduardo Medina to take your knowledge and career to new heights.

Keynote speaker Skip Kincaid will conduct 'What Does it Mean to be a Professional Arborist' and 'What Legal Obligations Do We Have' indoors. In the field, demonstrations will visually show improving climbing efficiency, climbing safety, and an update on OSHA and Job Site Safety Analysis. Emily Landon from St. Mary's University will discuss 'Conflict Resolution'.

From Field to Lab - A Hands-On Tree Diagnosis Workshop

What's killing my tree? Bugs? Disease? Join Dr. David Appel and Sheila McBride for a hands-on tree diagnosis workshop at the Texas A&M Plant Diagnostic Lab. This two-day workshop includes the fine points of field diagnosis and sample collecting and expert instruction in the lab on using diagnostic tools and techniques.

Women's Tree Climbing Workshop

Join the Texas Chapter ISA for a tree climbing workshop for women, taught by women.
 
This will be the ISA Texas' third women's tree climbing workshop and it is designed for women who have never climbed trees before with ropes and harnesses but also those who have prior experience and want to improve their ability.
 
Come learn a new skill or improve your foundation in a safe and positive environment. This two and a half-day event was specifically created for women by women climbers, who have competed in tree climbing championships & are working in the tree care industry.

North Central Texas Urban Forestry Conference
Healthy Trees, Healthy Lives

Join the Cross Timbers and Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Councils for the 2020 North Central Texas Urban Forestry Conference. The conference theme will be the connection between healthy trees and healthy lives, with a focus on how to keep trees healthy when faced with pests, disease, changing climate, and poor soils. Speakers will include Dr. Mike Merchant, Dr. Hans Williams, Sam Hill, a panel of municipal foresters, and state officials.

Texas Tree Climbing Championship
Climbers and Judges - Get Ready!
May 15-16, San Antonio

Mark your calendars now for this years Texas Tree Climbing Championship. The w inners will represent the Texas Chapter a the 2020 ITCC in Albuquerque, New Mexico this summer.  This is the best event of the year for a working climber to attend if you want to improve your skills.

ISA is still seeking conference presentations for the 2020 ISA Annual International Conference and Trade Show 9-12 August in Albuquerque, N.M., U.S. Our goal is to provide a program that meets the educational needs of attendees presented by speakers of the highest quality who represent the diversity of the ISA membership.

The ISA conference and trade show is where practicing arborists join together with top researchers and educators to advance the profession. Presentations should focus on the best research, knowledge and practice in the field to help us deliver exceptional learning experiences.
