REOPENING EL DORADO COUNTY

Stage 2 Criteria Met:
Dr. Nancy Williams,
El Dorado County Public Health Officer, announces that El Dorado County meets criteria to fully open Stage 2 for businesses and facilities. El Dorado County is the first of two counties, along with Butte, to meet the readiness criteria in opening through Stage 2.

California's Economic Forecast:
After years of growth, California's economic forecast takes a dive. Unemployment rate, personal income, and permits for new housing construction all point to grim numbers.

Claiming source of illness from COVID-19:
Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order on May 6 for COVID-19 related illness to be presumed contracted at place of employment.

Coronavirus Impact on Voting:
California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday made California the first state to switch its November election to all-mail balloting due to concerns over physical participation during the Coronavirus pandemic.

EDH Chamber Awards Scholarships:

, along with proceeds from raffle ticket sales at our mixers, our Chamber is pleased to award four $750 scholarships to local graduates, who plan to continue their education at a university, college, or technical school. The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce congratulates the following scholarship recipients for 2020, and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors: Donna Taghipour, Katie Kenny, Cole Shoemake, and Angelina Wu from Oak Ridge High School.

Wells Fargo & Company announced its most recent Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating for California is Outstanding. Wells Fargo also received a national rating of “Outstanding” from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) as a result of the company’s strong performance on the exam’s components and the company’s proven commitment to serving low- to moderate-income communities. The bank’s strong performance on the exam’s components reflected positive results in California and other markets the bank serves.

Big Picture Changes to UI & Benefits:
The CARES Act made sweeping changes and added new benefits to the program, so during the near-term the state Employment Development Department (EDD) will interpret these changes and implement them to provide the new benefits.

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS FUND

El Dorado Hills Chamber, El Dorado County Chamber, and the El Dorado Community Foundation Fund:
The intent of the fund is to support western slope small businesses that have been directly impacted by the Coronavirus. All contributions will be held and distributed by the El Dorado Community Foundation and are 100% tax deductible. Criteria and applications for the fund will be available soon for all of our western slope small businesses
