Instructor-led online learning is now yours.
Shorewood Library, along with the entire Milwaukee County Federated Library System, just added a new tool to our kit of learning resources: Gale Courses.
Gale Courses is an online tool that lets you sign up for and take six-week online courses at your own pace and at no cost! As long as your card is in good standing, you can access Gale Courses now to brush up on Microsoft Office, build your personal finance skills, learn web design, prepare for a standardized test to level up - and more.

CELEBRATE WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
|
March is Women's History Month and we're celebrating with a discussion of one of feminism's first proponents.
Join us for a discussion of feminist philosopher and exemplar, Mary Wollstonecraft. This Women's History Month discussion will focus on several of Wollstonecraft's key themes including her vision for full civilization, her critique of gender inequalities in education, culture, and personal life, and her conception of virtue and rationality as essential to all genders.

A monthly update from the Friends of Shorewood Public Library
Literacy Advances Thanks to Metro Market
With the February opening of the Metro Market, the people of Shorewood gained not only a new grocery store and meeting place, but access to more and better laptops at the Shorewood Library as well.
At the store opening on February 15, the Friends of the Library accepted a check for $5,000 from Roundy's and Metro Market. This generous donation is earmarked to replace the Library's existing laptops - and add more, too.
Laptop lending has been limited at the Shorewood Library until now. One of Roundy's giving priorities is promoting literacy in the communities they serve.
By making laptops available to patrons, the library will be able to supplement the computer stations that are often fully used AND give people the chance to use the computers in other parts of the library. This flexibility mirrors the way we use computers at home and gives people options of how to use the laptops-with a study group, while slouched in a comfortable chair or while your child reads picture books or plays near you.
Friends of the Library President Priscilla Pardini expressed sincere appreciation to Roundy's and Metro Market for their support of the library and literacy.
