North Hills School District
Pride • Tradition • Excellence
Students will be allowed back into our schools the first week of June to return materials including textbooks, library books and iPads, and pick up personal belongings and items left at school when the district closed in mid-March.

Middle school and high school students will be asked to enter their buildings alone. Elementary students will be allowed to enter with one parent/guardian or a designated adult. Children who do not attend the school will not be admitted. This includes siblings. Everyone must be wearing a mask and maintain a safe social distance at all times.

If you are sick or unable to go to the school on the student’s scheduled day as detailed below, please fill out the designated form below to arrange an alternate time to pick up belongings and return materials. Families with special circumstances should also fill out the appropriate form below to arrange an alternate time.

Only a limited number of people will be permitted in each building at a time and in certain areas, and students may have to wait their turn. As such, we ask that you please move expeditiously while in the building. Please remember that this is not a time for socializing with other students or families. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience.

Every building will have a designated one-way traffic system for entering, exiting and moving through the hallways. You must use the designated entrance and exit as detailed below.

  • Highcliff Elementary: Enter through main entrance, Exit through Timberlane doors next to kindergarten classrooms
  • McIntyre Elementary: Enter through gymnasium doors, Exit through main entrance
  • Ross Elementary: Enter through doors in front of auditorium, Exit through main entrance
  • West View Elementary: Enter through cafeteria doors, Exit through auditorium doors
  • Middle School - Grade 7: Enter through main entrance, Exit through doors near The Dungeon gymnasium
  • Middle School - Grade 8: Enter through doors at LGI room, Exit through doors at library
  • High School: Enter through main entrance, Exit through cafeteria doors

Once inside, students will be limited to the hallways only. No one will be permitted in classrooms or offices, and restroom use will be restricted.

There will be stations for returning iPads, textbooks, library books, depositing trash etc.

Elementary
All items from elementary classrooms will be placed in the student’s locker. Families are encouraged to bring a bag to collect the student’s items which could include artwork and projects.

Elementary books will be collected on tables and/or book carts in hallways.

Middle School
Seventh-graders should return all textbooks and library books in “The Dungeon” gymnasium before they exit the school. Books will be collected by subject matter. All eighth grade textbooks and library books will be collected by subject-matter in the LGI room.

Students will also be permitted to walk to their locker to retrieve belongings. Teachers will place classwork and projects that need to be picked up in designated areas and communicate those areas directly to the student. Students should enter the school by themselves. We ask that the student’s parent/guardian please wait in the car.

High School
High school class projects that need to be picked up will be located in the gymnasium. However, students will only be permitted to go to the gym if they received explicit communication from their teacher that there is something for them to pick up. If you do not receive communication from your teacher, you have nothing to pick up and you will go to either your locker, if you have belongings in it to retrieve, or straight to the cafeteria for book drop off.

Students will enter the cafeteria from the B hallway and drop off books in their designated areas in both sides of the cafeteria (A and B) before exiting the building from the A side of the cafeteria. Students must go to their lockers before proceeding to the cafeteria. Pathways will be clearly marked.

Lost textbook or library book?
Please do not worry if you have a lost textbook or library book. If found over the summer, books can be returned when school resumes in the fall.

District personnel will be monitoring all areas to ensure everyone is moving about the building as instructed while maintaining a safe social distance. NHSD police officers will be in parking lots to help with traffic flow.
iPads
If you wish to keep your district-issued iPad, you must purchase it from NHSD using the MySchoolBucks online portal. The purchase price is $100 plus tax. You can use your MySchoolBucks account if you have one, or check out as a guest.
You must enter the iPad’s asset tag exactly as it appears on the back of the device. Please include all letters and numbers and double check for accuracy. It is extremely important that this tag is entered correctly. We also need the student’s name and NHSD-issued email address.

The iPad currently assigned to the student is the only iPad that can be purchased. iPads cannot be traded in for a different version. All iPads are $100 regardless of the version. If you do not purchase the iPad through the MySchoolBucks portal, it must be returned.

If you have multiple students with iPads and want to purchase all of them, you must add each iPad, with its unique asset tag, to your MySchoolBucks cart individually. You can then navigate to your cart to check out in one transaction.

Your device will be wiped remotely and removed from our system once we process the purchase. However, this will not happen until the week of June 1 at the earliest. Entering the correct asset tag will help expedite this process. If your iPad's asset tag has been torn off, please enter the serial number instead. The serial number can be found on the device under Settings > General > About. If we do not have the iPad's correct asset tag or serial number, we cannot wipe it and remove it from our device management system.

Please note: Once the iPad is wiped, it is no longer an NHSD device and all district-owned apps will no longer be installed. This includes the Self Service app. Families will have to download all apps using a personal Apple ID in the App store as they would if they purchased a new, personal iPad.

Your iPad must be either turned in or purchased by June 15. If you do not do either by June 15, you will be billed for the device .
Medication
If your student has medicine at school, your school nurse will be contacting you directly with pick up instructions.
Instruments
If your student plays an instrument and is in grades 4-11, please keep the instrument on loan this summer. Instruments will not be collected. Please see the NHSD Music Department’s communication for additional information regarding the return of materials at the high school.
Yearbooks
Elementary school yearbooks will be distributed at a later date. Look for future communication from your school’s parent organization.

Middle school yearbooks will be placed in student lockers for pick up during the week of June 1.

High school yearbooks will be available for pick up at the school during the week of June 1 when students return to drop off books and pick up their belongings.
