Moorpark General Plan Update Community Workshop #2: Land Use

Thursday, May 27 | 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

How do you envision Moorpark in 2050? What does new housing look like? What types of businesses will call Moorpark home? What kind of residents does Moorpark need to attract to meet the labor needs for Moorpark businesses? The City's first-ever comprehensive General Plan Update is YOUR chance to share YOUR vision and help craft our future together.

The City invites all Moorpark businesses and residents to actively participate in its second informative and interactive General Plan Update Community Workshop. During the workshop, the community will provide feedback on the type of development that could occur in the future and how land uses in Moorpark can change. Participants will also participate in a virtual land use mapping exercise and be able to ask questions of the project team. And, if that isn't enough, there will also be free giveaways!

Your feedback will inform the City's General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) and decisionmakers as they make recommendations for potential changes to the City's Land use Map and help inform our overall plan. "We need to hear from as many voices as possible to help us determine the future of Moorpark," said Mark DiCecco, chair of the GPAC.

A remote meeting site will also be available at the Ruben Castro Human Services Center (inside the Conference Room) on the night of the workshop with internet access, computer assistance, and Spanish-language assistance. Individual workstations will be available so that everyone can participate in the workshop. To reserve a seat in the Conference Room, contact Freddy Carrillo at (805) 517-6224 or by e-mail by May 25 (se habla español).

Get Involved!

The workshop will also be recorded and posted on the City's website at www.moorparkca.gov/GPAC.

Ventura County Steady in Orange Tier

Under current rules, a county must record fewer than 2.0 new COVID-19 cases per 100K population for two consecutive weeks to advance to the yellow tier. Today's weekly state report showed that the County has a very stable rate of new cases, with that stable rate remaining above the 2.0 mark. As such, Ventura County will continue to be in the orange tier for at least the next two weeks. Now, the earliest possible timeline to advance to yellow tier is an announcement on June 1, to be effective on June 2. The past month's new case rates are shown below for reference:

  • Apr. 20: 3.4 unadjusted, 2.6 adjusted
  • Apr. 27: 3.2 unadjusted, 2.4 adjusted
  • May 4: 2.7 unadjusted, 2.2 adjusted
  • May 11: 3.0 unadjusted, 2.3 adjusted
  • May 18: 2.9 unadjusted, 2.4 adjusted

State health officials will continue publishing weekly statistics every Tuesday afternoon at covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/. You can also search on the website by business type to see if a business type is currently allowed to open or not in our orange tier (need to select Ventura County).
