IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 8TH TO 9TH GRADE COURSE SELECTIONS
CISD utilizes a scheduling system for students called Arena Scheduling.  This system, accessible from Skyward's  Student Access, allows our high school and senior high students to create their own schedule, similar to systems used in college.  To participate in Arena Scheduling, students enter course requests. After the requests have been reviewed by the counselors, a time is set up where students create their own schedule (within Student Access) from their requested courses.  This allows students to have more control over their schedule, and they will know their unofficial schedule by the end of the current school year.  Official schedules will be available sometime in August prior to the beginning of the next school year.

Current 8th Grade Students Arena Scheduling will be open - dates to be determined.

Please click here for more information on  Arena Scheduling

If you have any questions regarding HS Scheduling,
please contact the High School Counseling Department.

Current 8th graders who are interested in the High School version of HOPE, called HALO?  Turn the   application in to Mrs. Allie Adams by March 20.

Day of Service Information
In support of the district's core value of Compassionate Service, CMS will be participating in its second annual Day of Community Service on March 6.

All students and staff will go out into the community to volunteer time and talents at more than 20 different organizations. A committee of teachers began contacting agencies to ask if we might bring a team of students to volunteer.  To date we have more than 20 different agencies that have agreed to having groups of between 10 and 100 students perform tasks such as sorting food and stocking shelves at food pantries, working behind the scenes at resale shops that benefit the homeless, reading to elementary students, working outside and band performances at assisted-living centers just to name a few.

On Feb. 3 students watched an informational presentation that showcases each volunteer opportunity after which they will be asked to choose approximately five places.  Teachers will be asked to choose five locations they would be willing to chaperone.

Once students are placed in a trip location they will meet two times with all those going to the same place.  At these meetings, they will learn about the organization and the work done there.  If the organization receives donations of supplies, students will have an opportunity to gather things they wish to donate (food items, toiletries, etc.).

On March 6, all students and staff will board buses to spread out across the neighboring communities leaving at approximately 9:15 a.m. and returning to campus by 2:30 p.m.

As plans progress it may become necessary to ask parents to help chaperone as some locations require more chaperones than others.  If this is the case, a form will be sent out for parents to sign up.  Many of the locations will require waivers to signed to allow students to participate.  Please be on the lookout for this information in the coming weeks.  We plan to use student emails to assist in getting forms completed and returned. Classes will not be held on March 6 and as all students and staff will be volunteering.

Thank you in advance for helping your student embrace this Day of Community Service.

A General Permission slip is required for EVERY STUDENT.  Please complete this as soon as possible.
CISD Winter Weather Procedure
With the temperatures dropping and the potential of inclement weather, we want to take a second to share the district's winter weather procedure.

Carroll ISD monitors the National Weather Service and local meteorologist forecasts before making decisions to close or delay school.  Officials try to provide details about school closings to staff, students and parents before 6 a.m.  Keep in mind that district buses begin their routes very early, but conditions change so rapidly in Texas that sometimes conditions and temperatures improve by the time buses begin their routes.  So, the decision regarding the school schedule may not be made until the early morning hours before a school day.  When at all possible, we do consider compelling facts in order to make a decision the night before.
